Title: Difference in 5 reel size? Post by: FORDSBS on July 25, 2011, 04:56:00 PM It seems I read on here a while ago that there are 2 different size reels on a 5 reel.
Can someone set me straight? Maybe I didn't get it straight. I have a 2 inch reel on my games & want to make sure I get correct strips. Thanks Ford Title: Re: Difference in 5 reel size? Post by: cowboygames on July 25, 2011, 05:44:57 PM Ford, newer 5 reel machines use a strip that is approx 2 1/4" wide. Commonly found on games made after 2005 I believe. Actual reels measure like 2 3/8". Strips are backlit and washable. Origional 5 reel games use 2" strips on a 2 1/8" reel. Strips are backlit, non-washable. The newer, wider reels are also commonly, but not always, LED backlit. If the physical width of the strips you're looking at are over 2" wide, then they are the newer wider ones. Hope this helps
Title: Re: Difference in 5 reel size? Post by: FORDSBS on July 25, 2011, 06:12:50 PM Thanks cowboy. I was thinking of getting another game for my 5 reel & wanted to make sure I got correct strips.
Maybe I should put some of the newer reels in so I can get newer game with washable strips. Can I just put other reels in or must I get another mounting plate? Title: Re: Difference in 5 reel size? Post by: stayouttadabunker on July 25, 2011, 06:40:53 PM yes...you will need the right shelf and matching reel glass.
Incorrectly sized reels and reel strips do not fit in the reel glass windows right... :60- Title: Re: Difference in 5 reel size? Post by: cowboygames on July 25, 2011, 06:44:18 PM Ford, you might check and see if your current game has strips available in the wider variety also and just switch over. Like Bunker said though, you'll need new reel glass and shelf to do it. Even Denver Duck was available with either size reels
Title: Re: Difference in 5 reel size? Post by: FORDSBS on July 25, 2011, 06:50:07 PM Guess I'll stay with the 2 inch unless I get a buy on the wider ones.
Thanks guys Title: Re: Difference in 5 reel size? Post by: idesign on July 25, 2011, 10:38:44 PM Not all 2" strips are non-washable. As an example, I have sets of reel strips for Double Diamond Run, Triple Stars and Cleopatra that are washable. They were available both ways. IGT made the washable 2" as replacements. I ordered a set myself some time ago.
Title: Re: Difference in 5 reel size? Post by: FORDSBS on July 25, 2011, 10:45:46 PM Good to know idesign, I have a Cleopatra & a Unicorn with non washable, They are good condition but would not hurt to keep in
mind that I can get washable if I have to replace them. Thanks Ford Title: Re: Difference in 5 reel size? Post by: idesign on July 25, 2011, 10:48:59 PM Yea, I was just looking through my other kits and found Unicorn and Triple Butterfly 7s in 2" washable too.
Title: Re: Difference in 5 reel size? Post by: FORDSBS on July 25, 2011, 10:55:04 PM How can I tell which is washable & not washable?
Title: Re: Difference in 5 reel size? Post by: idesign on July 25, 2011, 11:05:14 PM Washable have a very high gloss to them. Non-washable are usually dull or have more of a satin sheen. You can test a corner of the strips if unsure, if they get sticky they are non-washable.

I learned something new again. :259- Ford Yeah...don't wash them!! lol Whenever in doubt, just use a lint -free LCD screen cloth. Or something similar...throw it out after wards or you'll scratch the heck outta da strips! Idesign, BTW I wonder offhand - what in the world does IGT charge for a set of strips for the casino? Just wondering what outrageous price they charge casinos?...lol Title: Re: Difference in 5 reel size? Post by: cowboygames on July 26, 2011, 05:03:32 AM I paid $35/strip for my Cleopatra and Money Mad Martians strips. So $175 and $105 respectively

I was paying $45 a strip with a markup. Can't do that any more since other than casinos can no longer buy from them from what I understand. Too bad EI got shut down by IGT. Their strips were a good deal at $45 a set of 3. Title: Re: Difference in 5 reel size? Post by: stayouttadabunker on August 26, 2011, 07:06:19 PM I would to ask a question getting back to 5 reel basket sizes and strips.
The glass and strip kit I have coming in is a 5 reel Cleopatra game. May I ask, what size would the reels be on this particular S2000 9L 5R 90CM 5-reel machine? Is that Cleopatra considered the older S2000 game with the 2" strips? I have a chance to get myself a 5 reel unit w/shelf but the seller wants to know which reels I need? Thanks! Title: Re: Difference in 5 reel size? Post by: idesign on August 26, 2011, 07:08:53 PM All the Cleo reel glass I have ever seen has always been 2" (narrow).
Title: Re: Difference in 5 reel size? Post by: stayouttadabunker on August 26, 2011, 07:12:34 PM Thanks Idesign!
I think this is a non-back lit version. Thank you so much for your help. :131- I will let the seller know immediately! :89- Title: Re: Difference in 5 reel size? Post by: cowboygames on August 26, 2011, 07:23:29 PM Non-backlit version? They made such a thing in a 5 reel? I think I've got a complete set of incandecent backlighting if you need it Bunker.
Title: Re: Difference in 5 reel size? Post by: stayouttadabunker on August 26, 2011, 07:26:22 PM Okay, let me see what she has first okay
because I already gave her Idesign's answer in a PM? I'd really hate to turn her down because she offered to sell me a set/w shelf this morning but I just got online a few minutes ago. Title: Re: Difference in 5 reel size? Post by: cowboygames on August 26, 2011, 07:37:42 PM No problem, let me know if there's anything I can help with

If she doesn't have the narrow type, I will get back to you right away after I hear back from her. :89- It's always very exciting and quite nerve-wracking to wait for a kit to come in... It's like waiting for a newborn baby to come through! :72- Title: Re: Difference in 5 reel size? Post by: cowboygames on August 26, 2011, 07:48:31 PM Except in this case it's not like a real baby because it's not gonna be born till you put the parts together and supply electricity to bring it to life. OOH, OOH, Bunkers got Frankenbaby!! :97- :97- :97-

Yes, I have a Enchanted Unicorn game that has 2" Non-Backlit Reels and Strips. (I have a new set of the wider 5 reels and tray, etc., but I need a nice set of Backlit Reel strips for the unicorn so I can install them. Just in case someone reading this has some! :71- ) Bunker: It is important to let you know that the 2" and 2.25" (?) setups have different reel shelfs, and different REEL GLASS, so you have to be very carefully matching everything up! :wtf1- :277- :127- :127- :127- :129- CH :95- Title: Re: Difference in 5 reel size? I have a question though....what are the two extra possible button locations for? I outlined them in your excellent photo ala photo-shopped...>>> Title: Re: Difference in 5 reel size? Title: Re: Difference in 5 reel size? Post by: cartman765 on August 27, 2011, 10:29:46 AM Bunker, I don't know what the extra buttons are for the one with the button installed doesn't light up and it's already a multi demon machine. I got this machine from Chris At slot machines unlimited and it's a beautiful machine and I've never seen a 180 credit Cleopatra before they've all been 45 and 90 credit machines and I couldn't pass this one up.
Title: Re: Difference in 5 reel size? Post by: FORDSBS on August 27, 2011, 10:39:12 AM Cowboy is correct. The video of a Unicorn I posted on another thread had the extra buttons.
