Title: Bally 6000 with 83F-O error
Post by: cowboygames on July 31, 2011, 06:49:14 PM
The cmos battery on my Monte went bad so I replaced it and now it comes up with the 83F-O error. Do I need to do a reset after a battery change? Or is this another problem? Thanks in advance for any help :89-

Last week I had to do a partial clear on one of mine. Put clear chips in & came up with that code.
I got another set of chips & that worked Ok. I didn't get to check the chips out & see if they were bad.
When I replace Battery I do a clear.

Thanks Ford. I hadn't turned the machine on for a couple weeks, but it worked fine the last time it had been used before that battery went dead. Can those chips just go bad like that?

I don't think so. I didn't check why the one set did not work.

You need to perform a Complete SafeRam Clear, using SafeRam Clear chips.

That's what I was afraid of. I've got the chips, is it a pain in the ass? I do S2000s mostly, haven't ever done a bally

I've got a cd with the manual on it from when I bought the machine. My daughter's here this weekend so it'll be around August 8th before I have time to sit down and work with it. Thanks a lot for the info Ford :259-

Follow the video, it's easy.  Remember to hold the test and pseudo coin buttons for a complete clear.

Thanks,
Wayne

Hi Guys, I went through the saferam complete clear today and after much banging of my head on the wall I've got the machine running :30- The only issues I have are that the machine seems to hesitate for a second after the reels stop before the insert coin light comes on and it allows another spin. Almost like it's gotta think about what it's going to do next after each spin. Not EVERY spin, but most. The other thing is, I would like to change the denom from penny to quarter and don't know how. I did get crazy reel action that I didn't have before though :89- Thanks for the help so far and any help to come in the future!

To change from penny to .25 you need to set the dip switches on DS 2 on the mpu
also to turn off crazy reel spin set dip 7 to the on position DS2 also

so for a .25 denom you want the following

DS2

SW1-OFF
SW2-OFF
SW3-ON
SW4-OFF

Hope this helps...Oh you will have to do a clear when changing these switches.

Thanks for the info Tim. Will I have to do a complete clear or will a partial be enough?

No Problem,
Complete make sure you write down all the settings you have in the machines 11d menu
since this is a Monte unless you are familiar with the setup.

I've got a list of the settings from the guy I bought it from in TX. Any idea why the machine hesitates so long after each spin? It didn't do that before it had the origional dead cmos battery issue.

No but another clear wouldn't hurt in this case due to the fact you have crazy reel spin action going on.
Are you using all the same chips as before ?
Set the dips up as posted do the clear and see what happens.
If that doesn't cure it post a vid of the hesitation you are talking about.

Yeah, I might have changed another setting inadvertantly on the first attempt. I'm going to try again here shortly and will post back with the results

Ok, finished another clear and reset, got my denom set to .25 and left the crazy reels feature on. Changed setting on DS1 dip switch 8 and that solved the slow reponse issue after each spin, turned it "on". Machine is working great now :136- :92- :136-
