Title: What did I buy? IGT 7" LCD Screen
Post by: jdkmunch on August 20, 2011, 11:26:29 AM
Hello all-  I picked up this gem on fleaBay for $10    + $10 shipping           so $20

Does anyone know anything about it.   I'd love to be able to get it to display something and mount it in the player tracking window.

How would I go about figuring it out?

looks like the display for a 9" s2000 vision

That 2nd picture is deceiving -  it's only about 4" tall and 7" wide

I beleive this is for the AVP G20 cabinet to select denom or display something of the game, if not it's a player tracking display, one of the three.   I could be wrong but I can say for sure it's not Vision or Reel touch stuff.

Not sure what you can do with it outside of that cabinet.

See pix

It does look like that size

They usually run some version of CE but this device might not follow that so I am not sure, if one has that kind of free time on their hands to toy with this then all the more power to them!

That is only a dream for me, I would love to play with things like this but there is not enough time in one day or year.....

I'd love to just power it on somehow to jazz up one of my machines.  Even if it just displayed IGT

I got a bunch of the player tracking ones but have no info on them to be able to power them up, usually they take all the cables and it's just a bare device like pictured.  To just be able to power them up and be a tough go.

They also never put things like 12V + PIN 1 GND PIN 2

So you have to guess the voltage first and player tracking ranges, usually I see them at 9v for some reason.

also note that the card reader hardware next to the picture first shown would tell me this is player tracking stuff.

I have a bunch of these.  There are diff. types of them as well.  Some of them take compact flash cards.  These are as far as I know used for player tracking,advertisment,etc..  They can be programmed.  i do have some data (in paper form) about these and some have the cabling required for hook up.  I have some that are new and some used.  I also have some cooler ones for bally that are new.  As I always say --I will get all this stuff together and we can see what I have and chk these things out.  I also think it would be neat to get them working and install on a game.  Again I need to locate the paper work talking about these and then maybey we can at least be in the ball-park getting them to do something--B.

here's what comes up on the IGT website parts search:

090036020    BEZEL, NEXGEN TFT S-MNT BLACK BEZEL CARB FILLED   $1,375.00

I have Plenty of the nexgen flash cards-new and programmed for what they were used for as well as the hardware and some wiring for some.  As memory tells me the ones that took flash cards on back were BLUE in color?.  Again I will retrieve these items and forward the info--I have a good bit of this stuff.  Thanks B.

There are 4 connectors on it - I'll take detailed
Pics - maybe someone can identify the power
Port

How would I go about tracing this board to find where the power input would be?

P7 looks like a likely culprit. Do a continuity test from F4 to this plug - that will most likely be your VCC. Also see if you can read the part number on U8. This looks like it may be a vreg IC and its data may give more clues. Also see if there is any part numebr/info other that IGT on either board. Most likely it was manufactured by a third party and may provide some more info.

Edit - Ok maybe not, trace F1 and F2 to connectors. P4 may be the main power plug. You can also trace the ground plane and see where it terminates (Probably at several points)

As far as I recall this is a nexgen1 board and it runs win CE - these were replaced with nexgen2's.

The next question will be what voltage and if the flash chip blank or programed.

It definitely runs CE - there's a sticker on the board-

I ran the test and have continuity from P7 pins 3 and 4 to F4

So now I run wires from those pins to the outlet right?   :103-

All the ones I have also have CE stickers on them too, but yours also has a IGT Service sticker on it which means it was serviced at one point.   If the flash is blank it will not boot, but I could be wrong.

Also what outlet are you talking about?

I would think its 12V or 24V to run the unit, however I am not sure and it's not something you should try to guess at.

I was only kidding -  what is the safest way to proceed -

1st thing I'm guessing it's DC

Well you can try the outlet first and then toss the unit out and move on to something else like playing slots....

I suggesting finding out what it takes from someone who is a slot tech at a casino and or the manual.

Not something easy to guess at, plus it might take more than one voltage (prob not)

Here's a picture of the other end of the board with the WinCE stickers and such.

looks like the same one I got here, never had time to really play with it.

If you want to experiment ...

If you have a variable power supply, I would clip the negative lead to chassis ground and then Start with 5 volts on pin 3 or 4 and slowly increase the voltage as needed, while watching the current if you can.
Probably 12 volts, but I would start low just to be safe.

I need to be very careful -  I don't know much about circuit electrons  -  from what I know there should be a + and - pin connection

I would hook up my variable power supply but I don't know what pins are positive and negative

I would first get  doc on this before moving forward, but at 20 bucks what you paid you don't have that much to loose.

12v sound about what I was originally thinking, but all player tracking is usually isolated power so it will vary, but maybe since it's an IGT device that will stick with normal power

Good Idea, I checked my library and could not find anything out about that particular unit. I put out feelers with my contacts to see if they have any info on it...

Stop!  :81- I need to throw a wrench into the works here!

What if it requires AC voltages?  :129- :128-

I don't see any rectifier diodes on that board to indicate ac input Bunker :103-, I bet it's a 9-12 vdc source that runs it

okay,
Then it's possible that it takes DC voltages... :89-

Bunker - your the first person I thought of
When I got this

Thanks Munch but the other guys who are helping you out are
much more knowledgeable with IC circuitry then I'll ever muster!   :5-

If I were tinkering around with it - I'd probably have it smoked by now!  :72-

attached is a list of docs associated with the nexgen.  i asked my source for schematics but was told that this is all that is on the website.  if you want any of these docs let me know and i'll put in the request.  hope it helps!  :137-

That doc is a start, I think the rest was given out on a CD I remember having sometime ago, I am not sure I still have it.

Will check
