Title: Error code 40-Bally S5500

I have an error code 40 which is not on my list!  The wheels keep spinning and it shows the error code 40!  What could the problem be??

I found this explanation in the the Bally 6000 book.

40    Reel Initialization Error

The reels were unable to complete initialization
after a system reset.

Do you have another S5500 to swap parts with?  That is the easiest way to troubleshoot if it's not just loose connections.  If so, I'd swap reels first, then power supply, then the board, and so on until you find the culprit.

If you don't have another one, I would check all the connections and make sure all the chips on the board are fully seated.  Actually, I'd do that anyway.  :71-
