Title: New Machines
Post by: Neonkiss on August 21, 2011, 12:09:29 AM
Every year or so I re-arrange my game room.
This year I drug in two machines I have had in the garage for a while.

Yes, The Odyssey is alive and well thanks to Robert Winters.
I almost gave up on it, before I decided to send my entire E-Box to Robert for bench testing.
The only problem was the hard drive. Thanks to Mr. Winters It's up and running. What a GREAT platform.
If anyone ever gets the chance to work on one or own one, it's a fabulous experience.  Thanks Robert W  :131- :244- :3- :131-

The other machine is a Sigma UV1700. I have two game kits and it's a blast to play.

The Em Game is 3 line fruit 831
It's VERY clean and has a Bally Mfg tag that reads manufactured by Bally in Dublin Ireland. Then taken in on credit by IGT and refurbished.

The round top jukebox is the AMI C 1949 and plays 78RPM records. You load the from the front door. I like the old picture records from that era and put three of them in there
This is what they look like.

This was shortly after I purchased it for $50.00
It was missing the speaker, Amp, Tone arm and Volume control box.
Some wood had rot in the base, but I was able to salvage it with a good wood penetrating epoxy.
That stuff can turn soft wood into petrified stone.

I have a You Tube video here

I remember when that odyssey came out, must be close to 20 years ago.  Ahead of its time then and NOW!

Cabinet and button layout was a little odd I thought, but I guess that was part of the let's be different mentality.

closer to 10 years ago, first came out in 1998 for the masses, might have been seen or play tested in 97.  Most cabinet dates we had of them were from 98 - 00 and they were fun machines however a bitch to keep up and running.   The killer was was the cabinet design on the door frame around the monitor, if you shipped it without protecting the touchscreen around the edges it usually cracks.   The computer system was like any other of it's time, had it's quirks but worked 99.9% of the time.

Right, I recall watching the staff work on those oddlyconfigired doors.  And the upended monitor was awkward looking.but, those card dealing hands and that fat monkey looking at what you got, and the spinning spark plugs, hey, that was some avant garde stuff!

I was playing Eureka on the Odyssey tonight.
Like Banana Rama when you touch STUFF on the screen you get a reaction.
The mine cart moves and a rat run out
The rattlesnake lifts his head and he starts to rattle
The coyote howls and licks his paw

But I found a new one tonight,
Touch the can of beans in the lower R/H corner...   too cute, my wife was laughing so hard she had to grab her inhaler.  :72-

Thats too funny! All these years the Odyssey has been around and that's the first time I've heard of that one. They really put a lot of effort in their games. Even when the hopper had run out of coins there was a professor giving you a triva quiz until a slot tech refilled the hopper.

When IGT had the Elvira WAP game out they did the same thing on the touch screen. Lots of hidden messages. Too bad that game never made it to public sale.

Very nice gameroom.

In the pic showing the red phone booth, 4 slots, and the 2 Wheel Of Fortune chairs, what is the size of your stands and the seat height of your chairs.  I'm just starting out and I believe the stand that is being delivered is 27W x 17D x 22H.

Thanks,

Rick
