Title: Bally 55000 MPU Board Question?
Post by: Hotrodslots69 on August 21, 2011, 10:34:06 PM
Can anyone tell me if a 5500 MPU board is available that can be cleared with out clear chips like some of the 6000 MPUs, and if so how to you tell the difference?

It's not the board, it's the Mains (the chips that run the machine).

920000 series Mains (from 1995) don't need the clear chips. Newer ones do.

So if I have ME90000-9-0, ME90000-3-1, would need clear chip and ME92000-4-0, SE95000-G-3 dont if I understand you correctly.

You're missing a number. but if you mean ME900000, then I don't believe you need the chips. Just use JW10.  920000's don't need them either; it's the 950000's that do. Just in case, what is the date on the chips?

P.S. I typed this while replying to your first post, although it might not apply in your case:

Keep in mind that the older Mains don't support setting separate hopper and credit limits to run completely coinless (at least mine don't). They are missing one of the settings, which are, in order: 54, 56, 51, and 58. Setting 58 is not available on the 920000's.

I think I'm lost. :103- Are you saying that you have a mismatched set of 4 mains in your machine?

Your original question:
Can anyone tell me if a 5500 MPU board is available that can be cleared with out clear chips like some of the 6000 MPUs, and if so how to you tell the difference?

suggests that you want Mains that don't require a clear chip, and if you have the ME900000 set dated 1993 in there now, then you should be good to go.

Have I missed something? :128-

I have 4 different 5500 machines, thus the 4 different main numbers, sorry for the confusion.

So you have two sets of 920000's a set of 900000's and a set of 950000's?

The only machine that should need chips would be the last one.

PM sent.

Has anyone conpiled a list of MPU main chips (4) by number and options that are available for that specific chip set and what options they are. an example ME9000000-3-1, what options does this chip set have do you need a ram clear chip or jumper clear. what functions will it support, coin only, paper only etc. :103-
