Just wanted to say I know a lot of folks on east coast and lived there as well (NJ. area--Cape May).  Buckle down for some of you,  Most all will not get the violent right-front quadrent but this will be bad enough.  I have been thru quite a few canes this will be a nasty one in certain areas esp. the strom surge and torandoes.  Take care to all in it's path ---Katrina survivor and others speaking here.  Do not take them lightly,  Better to be prepared and take care of your family's/selves----Thanks and good luck on the storm to All my east coast friends and all in general----Barry.

thanks barry were waiting here patiently for it to strike in ct.......hopefully it wont be as bad by the time it hits us........were not use to weather like that....... its crazy east cost gets hit with a earthquake and hurricane all within a week.......

OK. You guys on East coast have to keep us informed as to how you are making out with storm.

so far its 3pm in ct and not a peep of rain or wind......

northern va here and only rain and wind so far. but atlantic city casinos closed at 4pm friday getting ready for irene

Eastern Shore Maryland.... Kent Island  (my home) was evacuated, not many people took it seriously and stayed.   Just rain so far, heavy at times but not sustained.   Wind restriction just went effect on Chesapeake Bay bridge no empty trailers allowed. Bridge will completely shut down if/when wind gusts hit 55mph. Worst is still 8-10 hours south of me so we are playing the waiting game.

Mine are on a 3 hour UPS -   So if the lights go to for a week here I'll play for 25 minutes a day.

i really think there overdoing it with this storm on CNN...... common its a tropical storm...... how bad could it be.......its not even a catogory 2......i dont think its gonna be that bad.....

Well my neighbors crusty black ant infested tree lost a huge limb and smashed down  -   on our property line -   destroyed my fence and stuff but all in all little damage - thank God

You know I was watching this "reality" exterminator show on TV yesterday and they were catching something like a "prairie rat" in cages / traps around this guys home.  When went to check the traps, sure enough they caught the rats but every other cage it seemed they went to had a rattle snake in there also eating the rat they caught.  Who boy...I would not want that job.

Most sites are reporting that that ORGANIC matter is actually high levels of raw sewage being dumped into the ocean as treatment plants get backup with the storm water.

No power, no internet since 1pm Saturday. Just got internet back today, but  still no power.  Every fast food restaurant that was  open had cars wrap around the building and onto the street for the drive-thru, all the parking spaces full plus the spaces in the business next to them Sunday and Monday.  Today not to bad As people get there power back. Still a lot of trees laying on power lines that haven't been touched. Other than that all's OK.

AUGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Still no power.  But, the Electric company (Va Power) Has been patting themselves on the back on the wonderfull job they been doing, and on how they are ahead of schedule. Yet when I called on Sunday They said they had no estimated time of restoration, but by noon  Monday everybody would have an estimated time of restoration. Call at 1pm Monday still no
estimated time of restoration. Called again at 2pm  5Pm and 9Pm still no estimated time of restoration. Called Tuesday they said power would be on between 5 & 11Pm Wednesday, Called Wednesday they said power would be on between 5 & 11Pm Thursday, Called Thursday Said Power would be on between 5&11Pm Friday, Called Friday(Today) And they said .........Hold On to your hats this is sad..................there is no estimated time of restoration.  I am pissed to the Max. Other than that all is good.

WOOHOO I got Power today.  Me and the wife are so so Happy. She even did a happy dance. :123-      And as some of you may not know I'm a Carolina Boy  born in New Bern, NC  and it was the Carolina Power company (Duke Energy) that got my power back  :131-
