Title: Atronic Bonus Poker info?
Post by: cfh on August 30, 2011, 02:37:35 PM
Does anyone have any general info on the
Atronic "real poker" series game called
"Bonus Poker"?  I have a chance at getting
one. It's pretty darn cool with the flip cards.
How hard are these to keep running? Battery
issues perhaps? Any special reset procedures or
reset chips needed? What do i need to know before
i get this thing?
thanks!

I don't have much for you, Clay, other than that I remember Atronic came out with a game called "Sphinx Magic" a number of years ago that used those flip card units for the topbox bonus.  This was the best picture I could find:

In this post (http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=10866.msg94520#msg94520), a member was selling one of the Atronic Flip Card Poker machines back in December.  If that's not the same person you're potentially buying the machine from, it might be worth sending them a PM as they might have some more info about that specific machine.

Finally, I'm sure you'll find this thread (http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=4409.0) very interesting.  Op-Bell says that the card flipping is very reliable, and Ohio Chad (http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?action=profile;u=1095) stated that he owns one and it works well for him.  He'd be another person you could contact to perhaps get more detailed info.

Ok thanks!
So no one has any repair info on these?
I'm just worried that when the battery dies
(machine is from 1995) that doing a reset
will be problematic.

...

What about soldering in two battery holders in parallel and starting off with a new battery in one of them. When the original batt dies, remove it and replace it with a battery in the second holder, then start swapping them out in staggered intervals. Diodes as needed.

Or use your old Bally mod and solder in a pack holder that's accessible with power on. You'd have to be more diligent about swapping them out since you wouldn't have the time cushion of a staggered setup.

That's SOP for me any how to use an easy to access remote battery
holder. but sometimes things happen. it would be good to know what
the reset procedure is, just so you know in case of a worse case situation.

I agree. It's a very cool machine. It's too bad Op-Bell doesn't have more on it.

Hi,

Yes, this machine is very cool!!!

On some older cashline, you can perform Ram Reset just with shortcutting the Battery for 7 seconds.
But to be sure, send a picture of CPU.

I got the game, traded an IGT S+ Haywire Dlx for it.
Here's a picture of the inside of the Atronic:

From what i can see, there's a RAM with a battery on
the top of the RAM. So rigging another battery in parallel
to this one would be difficult, or maybe impossible.
This scares me.

Also does anyone know how to update this bill acceptor?
i can't even figure out who made it. (see picture.)

The BV is a M IVO by CBV (Now GPT) - EPROM based but its unlikely that there will be any EPROMS for latest notes. There should be some info on these in the Universal Section.
I may have a manual for this at work if I do I will post later today.

Cool looking machine - Does not use the configuration I am familiar with in the cashline platform as far as processor board layout goes.

thanks for the BV manual!
so how hard is it to find updated firmware
for this bill validator? If this could take new
$20 bills, that would be ideal.

I would not get my hopes up - This BV is 4 generations behind GPT's current product. The software datasheets I have that go with the manual are all dated 2000. If you can let me know what SW you are currently running I can check the relevant datasheet.

Hi all,

The card you show is normally the network card. I can not see if you have the RJ45 connector. If you do not put it on-line or progressive this card is useless.
To perform a RESET RAM, you must shortcutting the  battery of the middle card.

See attached.

here's a picture of the dollar bill validator.
For the life of me, i can't get it to take
1s and 5s. There's a row of DIP switches
on the side, played with those, no luck.
thanks!

Maybe it's partially software related?  If the machine came from Atlantic City (and possibly other jurisdictions), it wouldn't have been permitted to accept $1 bills.

Am I safe in assuming that you're using a really old (non-large portrait) $5 bill?
