Title: jcm wba-11 question
Post by: gposing on September 14, 2011, 12:52:15 AM
just upgraded the eprom label says wba-10/11 - SS, ID 022/023 V3.60 - 03.  It will read $1 to $100 but not $5 old or new.  Any ideas what I can do to fix it?

Check the dip switch settings on the bill head, one of them may have been switched accidentally. I do not have the information in front of me now, but I think they should all be set alike... If one of them in the middle was switched differently it may disble acceptance of a particular bill, the $5 in your case.

If that is not it, I am sure that someone will have better help for you. I just wanted to give you soemthing off of the top of my head in case it helps now...

Good call.  I did check the dip switch settings.  It is #3.  So I thought maybe the switch was not working correctly and ran a diag test that used the switch and the test passed.  So I figured that the switch is good.  I found another doc about calibration of the unit.  I would assume if it needed that I would have problems reading other $$.  the new colored $50 works great.  I don't have the special sheet, do you think that will take care of it?

Might be a dumb question but did you try it with the head of the bill up and facing to the right? My 11 ss only takes them in one direction.

I had to completely take the head apart and clean the sensor covers really well as well to get mine to work correctly.

My 11 only takes the bills with the head facing to the right.  Is is supposed to allow either direction face up?  I did not take the unit apart and clean the lens.  I will give that a try.  Thanks again!!

Don't use alcohol to clean the lenses; it will cloud them. Use a Q-tip dipped in water with a drop or two of dishwashing liquid added. Rinse with a Q-tip dipped in clean water.

As far as I know the WBA 11 ss will only allow them to go in one direction but I'm pretty new to bill validators since I just got mine working finally last night thanks to the good people on here.  :244-

Well I cleaned the heads as stated above and it read 1 of the 3 I tried.  It read the one three times in a row.   One more question.  Will the wba11 read the new 5.   Thanks for the help.

The WBA 11 will definitely only take bills in one direction. I believe that V3.60 does take the color $5 with prejudice (meaning none of my DBV200s will take one, even though they're supposed to. :5- I think the calibration has to be spot on.)
