Title: s2000 triple double diamond
Post by: devilr1 on September 22, 2011, 10:55:34 AM
Looking for some help with my s2000 triple double diamond machine. I am getting a door open m error the door optics are new, the belly door switch is bypassed, and the cash can switch is bypassed. I checked the cpu board and there is signs of corrosion around the blue block type battery I was told this could short out the board and cause my problem. I was also told that if i replaced the board i have to reprogram the machine with clear chips. My question is do you think the board is the problem, and if so do i have to reprogram the machine after i install a new board? Please someone help me!

most of the time if the board and the game are the same you will not have to reprogram i swap board all the time and only get the errors where you turn key a few times and press button 2-3 seconds  and back then i am backup

Have you adjusted the optics to make sure they are in line when the door is shit and the latch is in the down position.  With the door open and the latch down place a pencil mark on the door.  Shut door, latch down and transfer mark to cabinet.  Open door and adjust cabinet optics to align with mark on cabinet.  If this doesn't work and you know the optics are good then you probably need a new board.  The problem you're having is a common board issue.

keep us posted on progress and good luck!

something you might want to consider before you start messing with your mpu.  check replies #9 and #26 on the following thread...

Amazing what just one single misplacement of a keystroke can do to a post!  :97-

Just like the mafia, one slip of the tongue and you're in deep shut :97-

On a serious note, if the optics are the problem and a persistent one, the bypass for those is simple and effective. :89-

I have tried adjusting optics and still nothing just the annoying candle blinking and the damn door open m code. So if I am reading everyone correctly I get a new board, swap over the chips from my old board, install it and I will be up and running? I can get a used board from slot machines ltd here in ohio for 100 bucks. has anyone dealt with them before? they tell me i just have to swap eproms and install it without reprogramming and the machine should return to factory defaults. Can it really be that easy?

If you decide to get a new MPU, you may as well get new optics too.  :89-
You may need to replace both someday anyways.  :5-
The two optics are the receiver optics and the emitter optics.  :71-

Personally, I would try bypassing the optics before buying a new board as alignment issues are common with the shutty door hinge they use. If you already had a spare board handy for the swap then of course I'd try that first, but if you get the new board and the problem persists you... well, I guess you have the spare board all machine owners should keep handy anyway :89- I'm just saying there's no guarantee the board is gonna fix your problem. So, whatever you think is best for you. Good luck

After reading through the posts I found one that stated I could remove the 3.6v battery from the board because it is not needed. Another post read that if you remove the battery you need to leave enough of the positive posts on the board and solder a jumper between the two pos posts or you will get errors. I removed the battery cleaned the area around the battery because there were minimal signs of corrosion and attached a jumper to the positive posts. I installed the board and turned on the machine and I'll be damned if it was working perfectly as if nothing happened. Now heres where I am stumped, after hitting the play 3 credits button one time the reels spun and I immediately got a general reel tilt followed by a door open m and closure b errors. I opened the door and turned the jackpot key to stop the reels from spinning but now I am stuck with a general reel tilt door open m and closure b on the display and they will not clear? HELP!!!!

Which model board is in your machine? 1270? Or 500 series?

I also forgot to mention that the area where the battery was it seems that the gold lines are gone I would imagine that this is what completes the circuit throughout the board, I have not gotten confirmation from anyone that if I replace the board I do not have to reprogram the machine. I am at the point of just getting a new board swapping eproms and hoping this solves my problem can someone please tell me if I have to reprogram after swapping boards thank you.

It is a 504 board

Ok, your errors could still be due to a faulty/misaligned optics on the main door. I had a machine that would come up with reel tilts pretty regular because even though it made a connection and cleared the machine when I closed the door, it wasn't good enough alignment to hold a good connection. I ended up bypassing them. You could still have a bad boardthough. Or a power supply not seated snuggly. In other words, there's still more than one thing that couls be the problem and you'll have to use process of elimination. Try the things you can readily do first

you normally would not need to reprogram the machine when just changing boards.  Put your sb, game and version chips on the new board.  When you start up there will be 3 or 4 error messages that are cleared by turning reset key.

Thanks for all the help everyone, I am going to go the new board route. Any recommendations on where to find one?

The missing "Gold lines" are circuit board traces.  :214-
These were, at one time, etched copper traces that connect all the various IC components on the MPU board.
If some of these traces are cut or corroded away - I am fairly certain that the board is shot/kaput/finished.  :107- :276-
It may be possible to have it repaired but the availability of 504 MPU board is high on the open market right now
( The market is FLOODED with S2000's !!!  :267- ) and you should be able to
pick up a used one for not too much money.  :148- :56-

It probably could have been avoided if someone snipped off that large battery
BEFORE the leaking acid ate half the board away!  :30-

Oh well...I highly recommend that you seek help from one of our vendors
by placing an WTB (Want To Buy) ad in the "Classifieds" section of NLG.
The vendors lurk around in those threads...also, sometimes a member may have an extra board to sell you as well!  :89-

you've still got an optic alignment issue i would guess.  try the bypass and you may not need the new board at all!  :89-

Have you messed with the Bill Validator inner chassis or the BV door wires lately?
