Title: 61-1 Won't clear Post by: pinballpaul on January 07, 2009, 09:38:13 PM On an IGT S-Plus (Red White & Blue with Louisiana tags) I changed the battery as usual reset from 61 to 61-1, turned and held JP reset key and nothing happened. The key works in test mode. I put the CPU board in another machine and still had the same problem, I also replaced the c-mos ram to no effect.
Title: Re: 61-1 Won't clear Post by: knagl on January 07, 2009, 09:47:47 PM Dumb question, but you are closing the door before you turn the key, right? Are all of your doors firmly closed (cashbox, belly, main)? In order to clear the 61-1, you have to have all of the doors closed (and the machine needs to know that they're closed), and then turn the JP reset key.
Title: Re: 61-1 Won't clear Post by: pinballpaul on January 08, 2009, 11:30:41 PM Thanks, that worked. It came up with error 65-2 which I cleared, but now it is not enabling the bill acceptor. Do I need to change something else? By the way, on the twenty or so s+'s that I have changed the batteries on, I always turned the JP reset key with the door open.
Title: Re: 61-1 Won't clear Post by: blueridgeslots on January 09, 2009, 12:01:32 AM You need to use a Set chip to enable the BV, to check if enabled, press the self test until 5 <0, 1,or 2> then turn the JP reset key until 9 appears if 9 0 BV is disabled if 9 1 then enabled
Title: Re: 61-1 Won't clear Post by: pinballpaul on January 09, 2009, 08:11:27 PM I thought all was well, until I put the board back into the customer's machine. I turned it on and it came up with 61. The only way I could get 61-1 was to pull the c-mos and put it back in, powered up, reset closed door and turned JP key. the display blacked out and went back to 61. Could it be the motherboard since it worked in another machine?
Title: Re: 61-1 Won't clear Post by: rickhunter on January 09, 2009, 08:58:26 PM you may need to re-init the eeprom on the motherboard. Do you have a RAM clear chip? If you don't what is your SP game chip? If you have one that is significantly older or newer, the system will re-init the eeprom to accomodate the different accounting format and will accomplish the same thing as clearing ram.
Title: Re: 61-1 Won't clear Post by: Frank A on June 22, 2009, 09:53:34 PM All of a sudden I had a 12 battery error that came up on my Red White and Blue IGT S+. I hadn't been playing this machine for a while. Does the non play/non power on affect battery life at all ? Now after changing the battery which registers 4 volts, I can't clear the 61 code. I push and hold the reset for 2 seconds and it dings . I close the door and 61-1 comes up. I turn the jackpot key and it goes blank, no reel spin and 61 comes back to say hello again. I looked up the thread 61 Won't Clear and nothing in the thread worked. The only thing that I have not tried tonight doing a ram clear and swapping out the board for another machine. Any thoughts ? I also need to go thru my notes again on how to do a ram clear. Thanks,

Frank Title: Re: 61-1 Won't clear Post by: Frank A on June 24, 2009, 06:14:21 PM The issue is fixed. I finally got a 65-3 code after the ram clear and after that it was an easy fix. I even installed a bell. Thanks again,

Title: Re: 61-1 Won't clear Post by: knagl on June 25, 2009, 09:57:03 AM Does the non play/non power on affect battery life at all ? It is my understanding that when the machine is off that there is a tiny drain on the battery so the machine will keep its memory -- that drain is not there when the machine is powered on. That said, since you've now changed the battery it should be good for the next five to ten years. I'm still using the battery that came with my S+ and after about two years (with it barely ever on) it's still working fine.
