Title: Re: sqweeky door came back......... Post by: stayouttadabunker on September 26, 2011, 10:17:19 PM You'll find 3-in-1 oil at a local hardware store or any fabric store.
I think that particular brand of oil was originally designed for my mother's old sewing machine... :5- Title: Re: sqweeky door came back......... Post by: Foster on September 26, 2011, 10:23:13 PM 3 in 1 is perfect for door hinges, the only other thing I could think of using graphite lubricate
Title: Re: sqweeky door came back......... Post by: staz on September 26, 2011, 11:34:39 PM ill try 3 in one oil but will it damage the gold chrome at all? do you just poor it from the top of the hinge or do you have to poor it in every slice of the hinge all the way down?
Title: Re: sqweeky door came back......... Post by: stayouttadabunker on September 26, 2011, 11:47:08 PM Drip about ten drops of oil onto the very top spine of the hinge and believe me -
it will work it's weaselly way down to the bottom! :72- Leave a paper towel under the door hinge and it will catch any excess oil. Oil will do nothing to chrome. What is squeaking is the piano wire that's inside the hinge. It's never, ever been oiled since it left the IGT factory...oh...about 15 years ago? It took someone with your excellent hearing carnality to think of oiling it again. Title: Re: sqweeky door came back......... Post by: stayouttadabunker on September 27, 2011, 12:15:08 PM all these Technical words "spine" :103-.........is this the spine????? :97- :97- :208- :97- :72- You crack me up.... I had a locksmith that spoke very good English come over at work a few years ago to replace a fire door and install a special security lock for us. He said he had to "knock out the spine" to remove the door... :5- Of course, going by his perfect mastery of the English language, I had no doubt that he was using the correct terminology? :96- Ever since then, I've been calling that the "Spine"... But let us resort to plain, ole' dumb cowboy language and call it a "door pin" okay? :200- Drip the oil on top of the "Door Pin" that's located inside the hinge "knuckles" and you should have a quiet door again... I've highlighted this spot with a green arrow for your use. :8- >>> Title: Re: sqweeky door came back.........
