Title: Electronic Ballast "Extra Part" Post by: mah on September 29, 2011, 11:21:36 PM Does anybody know what this additional plug is for? Will it harm anything removing it?
This plug was between the power supply wires and the input for the electronic ballast for the belly glass on an I Game. I thought I had a burned out bulb, then a bad ballast. When the light still didn't work after replacing both, I was about to trace the wires then spotted this device. Took it out, plugged everything else back in and bingo, the bulb works. Thanks, mah (Mike) Title: Re: Electronic Ballast "Extra Part" Post by: cowboygames on September 29, 2011, 11:36:06 PM I had one of those once. I think it's a fusible link of some sort. My bulb was still working but I threw it out anyway.

What screws? :103- It's not the ballast in question, it's that 'dongle' thing. Anyway, I'm using my phone so I can't attach a picture, but it's a fusible link with a 1 1/2 amp Buss fuse under the shrink wrap. Probably to prevent shocks or shorting if someone spills a drink on the machine.
Title: Re: Electronic Ballast "Extra Part" Post by: mah on September 30, 2011, 11:15:47 AM That makes sense. I'll just have to make sure drinks are not spilled.
Since no drinks were spilled to begin with, I have to think the link was severed by a surge when turning on the machine. If tou have the one with just 2 plugs it is a PTC or self reseting breaker for old ballast thet do not have a PTC.
If you have the one that has 2 plugs and a Red and Black wire it is a flasher. to flash the Belly or top glass lights. Title: Re: Electronic Ballast "Extra Part" Post by: cowboygames on September 30, 2011, 11:43:36 AM You can flash a flourescent light?
Title: Re: Electronic Ballast "Extra Part" Post by: poppo on September 30, 2011, 12:38:42 PM You can flash a flourescent light? I don't see why not. I have a fluorescent light on my work bench and I just tried turning it on and off several times quickly and it worked ok. Title: Re: Electronic Ballast "Extra Part" Post by: stayouttadabunker on September 30, 2011, 12:51:57 PM I'd loosen the two screws and pop off the cover too! What screws? :103- It's not the ballast in question, it's that 'dongle' thing. I just thought maybe there's something else that's attached behind the dongle in the ballast container? Who's knows? I've never seen this dongle thingy...lol Apparently, now we know it's some sort of a breaker fuse. Title: Re: Electronic Ballast "Extra Part" Post by: cowboygames on September 30, 2011, 01:22:04 PM I guess if you didn't allow it to power down all the way it would restart pretty quick. Mine was on the reel glass though. Not a common drink spill area. Maybe it was one of those things they got in the mail and figured they better use it somewhere. Anyway, works fine without it...
Title: Re: Electronic Ballast "Extra Part" Post by: poppo on September 30, 2011, 01:34:17 PM I know what it is. It's that timer they uses to make the machine pay more or less. :97- :72-
