I’m a newbie with slot machines and have a few questions that I hope someone here can help me.

I have an IGT Sizzling 7 slot machine.  I believe it is a IGT S2000 but don’t really know.  Could someone point me in the right direction to find out how to reset credits to zero and what the functionality of the “Reset Key Switch” does and how to do it.

Please help.

It doesn't matter if it's a S+ or a S2000 machine. The credits can not be reset on either machine like they can on a cherry master. The reset key is for a jackpot reset or an amount that exceeds the payout limit. If the machine hits a jackpot and locks up then the jackpot reset key is used to get the machine to play again. Hope this helps.

The reset key is also used to access the bookkeeping meters and to access some of the setup options in the test/setup menus. There are differences in how these menus work between the S+ and the S2000, and even within one platform, depending on the firmware installed.

Can you post a picture of your machine?

Thanks for the info.  here is a picture, I was just wondering if I could change how often it pays out with that key or if I needed to chang an eeprom or something.

I was looking for some sort of info on the menu's and stats using the key but I guess I could buy a book on it if I found one.

We have a Factory Eprom for that game that is over 97%

That's an S plus. I moved the topic to the S+ board.

Open the door and press the white test button next to the power switch. Press it 8 or 9 times, until you see a 4 in the Coins In window.

Then read the numbers in the Winner Paid and Credit Windows and post them here. If there are two sets of numbers flashing in either window, write them all down and post them.

The winner paid is flashing 00 00 the credits is flashing 1271 then 3340 and coins played is 4.

If you are trying to reset the credits in the Credits" window, throw a few handfuls of coins and let the hopper run them out.
If you dont like that idea, then buy a clear chip and wipe out your ram. That'll set EVERYTHING to zero.

Set Chip   IGT utility program chip SET088, SET089, SET090, SET091, SET101, SET102, SET116, or SET121 is required to configure options for this version. "
 
SET090 is very popular and is readily available from our vendors on the homepage. You will need this to re-enable the bill acceptor.

If you're trying to reset the credits on the mechanical meter counters...it's best to ask our vendors here on the top of the home page of this website for a new set of meters.

Your game chip is SP1271 (that's the chip that determines the setup options and bookkeeping meters)
Your reel chip is SS3340 (that's the chip that determines the game you're playing, the number of coins/lines, and the payouts.)

I have also attached a PAR (Paytable And Reel strip information) for your SS3340. It has a payback of 95.447%. This file shows the virtual stops and all of the winning combinations, etc.

Thank you all so much, this place is great.  Sorry for the lame questions.  Does this mean the machine pays 95.4% of the time?  Is that a lot or average or not alot?  Is there somewhere I can read up on this to learn more?

There are no lame questions. Everyone has to start somewhere. You should read Rick's FAQ section to get up to speed. Just click on the blue button near the top of the page.

95.4% is a very good payback. It would have been typical of a machine that was set to a dollar denomination in the casinos in Nevada back when these machines were in use. The typical payout for quarters was about 92% in Nevada. If you go to the link I posted for your game, you will see all of the chips that were available. Yours is near the top.

The payback percentage is the long-term expected payout of the game. Long-term means 10,000,000 spins! So in the short-term of your home experience, you can expect a bit of variation. That is normal. The more you play it, the more likely the average will approximate the expected return.

 

I guess everyone is different but is 95.4% payback a desirable percentage?  Does that pay out to much?  I got this machine for $590.00, is that a decent deal?  It looks like it has never been used, looks brand new.  Is this a good machine?

Try it again. I noticed that something was wrong with the link a few minutes ago and fixed it. $590 is a good price. Some people here wouldn't pay that much, but they are also able to fix and clean up a machine that is not in great shape. If your machine is clean and trouble free, then don't worry and just enjoy it!! :89- :71-


That depends. Most of us are home slot owners that play our machines for fun (although we do have a few casino operators from Central and South America on the forum). We want to have the highest possible payback percentage because it makes the games more fun to play. A casino owner might want to set the payback to a lower percentage.

ok, my last question then I will start reading up....  It seems that my machine works really good and I'm real happy with it but the bill acceptor does not take new $5 bills.  Is there something I can do to fix that?  It really doesn't matter but I'm one of those people that like everything perfect.

The S+ is not able to accept the new $5, the newest upgrade is the colored $10

Is that a chip or eprom I need?

95% means for $100 taken into the machines, $95 is paid back
out to the player. Now this is calculated over millions of plays,
so that number may not pan-out over a few thousand plays.
But it gives a good idea of what to expect over the long run.

As for price you paid "the going rate" for an S+ (unless you
live in detroit, where stuff like this is nearly 1/3 off what the
rest of the country pays!)  Personally i would have bought a
Williams machine. But that's me. I just don't think S+ models
are very good. Would rather have better sound, backlit reels,
bonus games, maybe a dotmatix display, and all for the
same price (or less, especially if you're in detroit!)  But the S+
is/was popular.  People remember it, because during the
1990s when the S+ like yours was in the casino, IGT had
like 80% marketshare. So people remember those games,
and playing/winning/losing on them.

Thanks for the reply, I live in L.A. so everything is expesive and as you can tell I no nothing about slot machines.  I just came across it and it looks like it just came off the showroom floor so I bought it.

We would have to know what kind of acceptor is in the machine.  S+ machines had a few different brands and models that came with the machine.  I've included 2 pics below, do either look like your's?

If your DBV200 head has a flash ROM, you can
convert it to EPROM. Here's the instructions:

Or more simply you could send it to us for Flashing, calibrating and even a cleaning, all for $15 plus the return shipping, this is if it has the flash and not eprom, but make sure it needs upgrading, it may take the new $10 already
