Title: S+ Mikohn Mini Bertha help needed
Post by: BrianRGI on January 09, 2009, 04:36:30 PM
I hope someone can help. I am trying to get a S+ Mini Bertha running but all I get is a 41 code. Reels are getting power but I can't get past this code. I read about an SP857 for mini bertha but I don't have it. I,ve tried various SP chips and also known good boards that work in a UR S+ no problem. Could it be the SP? Any help would be appreciated. The reel driver board and power supply were working before storing the EGM. Reel Driver board has power in/out. The reel harness is a little different from a regular S+; the harness branches off and it utilizes J14 as well as J7 on the mother board. Known good main and mother boards. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Brian

41 is a reel one error.
42 is a reel two
43            three

These happen easy enough if something interferes with the reel movement during a spin.
They are not the easiest to clear.

Theoretically you should be able to press the self-test button, turn the jackpot reset, close the door and it should be back in operation. Its just never worked that way for me.
I have also had people try clear chips and not have them make a difference either. Its a b*tch of an error.

What has worked in the past is if I switch to a 1271, then back to an older chip. Going forward doesn't seem to help, but when I go back to the 731 or in your case the 857 it gives me a 65-3 (Cmos data corruption), a turn of the jackpot reset and I get a 65-2, a press of the self test I get a 61-1, which is the standard game setup.

Please post back and let us know how you make out.

It's been awhile since I worked on an S+ Mini-Bertha...but I believe there is a "box"  below or in back of the reels that are connected into the reel / driver / motor system (since the reels are "custom" type)... Anyway... inside the box  you might find some components that are broken and need to be re-soldered.  Sorry to be so vague, like I mentioned it's been a couple years...  but if you just open up the "box"  it may be obvious from a visual check.

This may or may not help

Thanks everyone. I haven't tried going to 1271 and then back to either a 731 (I don't have 857). I'll try it. I see no visible bad components in the reel driver board pcbs. I will try again to see if I can get her past the 41 code. She doesn't cycle her reels so I'm not sure what is causing the code. Known good main and mother boards. Also I am using a bypass door optic harness to complete my door closures as the bloody door on this thing is a B**ch to close.
Thanks,
Brian
