Anyone know why Williams Monopoly Hotel BIG event and Happy Days were pulled from casino's? Or do you know where one is still in operation?

I first saw Monopoly Hotel BIG event at Ceaser's in Vegas, it the game with the large plasma screen and plays much like "wizard of Oz" where there are four slots linked and you pick a character, then the bonus game has different results for different characters. We even got the game at Veijas Indian Casino in San Diego along with Happy Days. Those games were always packed and it was hard to get a seat.

About 6 months ago they were removed and the one at Ceasers in Vegas is gone too. I do know the Happy Days actors were suing for royalties on the slot game but what about Monopoly BIG event? That was an extremely popular game.

Any insiders know?

I don't think they were suing WMS directly but it did not matter as the title was a flop from what I understand, might have been busy at the time but overall it did not have long term appeal.   The Monopoly big event like other older titles are removed after sometime to refresh player interest so when they are removed they go back to WMS directly as they are not purchased by the casino rather leased.  That's is why you never see leased titles for sale and why they move it out so quick.  Since the casino does not own it and I am sure there is some method used by the mighty dollar taken in, they swap them out as quick as possible when the newness wares out.

I liked many of the older leased titles that are now gone but oh well ,we all must move on.

The Hotel Big event (community game) was fairly new, not talking about the single seat top box bonus game, there was also a new big event "reel em in" with 3 or four community bonus games (a boat race, catching fish). ALL of these community bonus games regardless of theme seem to be gone. At our local casino the Monopoly Big event (community bonus game) was only in place 6 months before disappearing. It was always packed, I don't understand why it would get pulled. The same spot now has something no where near as appealing and sits with empty chairs. I was wondering if there was some legal reason behind the community games because they disappeared. Maybe to big of a payout? Or if anyone knows of one in existence still.

Coming back home from a vacation in Texas, we played a Monopoly Big Event machine in Ely, Nv.  It was at the Nevada Hotel and Casino.  We actually walked away with about $100 in profit.   :88-

The Eureka Casino in Mesquitte NV still has a community Reel'em In. And there are WMS community games in Laughlin, can't remember the titles.
Betting Vegas has several too.

When dealing with leased games the casinos still get to decide if they want the machines or not. Unless the software is revoked by the various gaming commissions or laboratory and the vendor does not provide a solution, the machines existance on the casino floor is up to that casino. Most likely the banks coin in or net win will have the most factors for its life on the casino floor. Also the salesman will come in and tell the director that a "HOT" new bank or machine is ready. These may be hits or flops, which most of the time they are, but to pu the old machines back on the floor would be too costly. When a community game is taken off the floor, it is picked up and transported back to its parent company. Another reason we take these machines off the floor may be due to technology upgrades. For instance the machine's SAS level would affect its ability for bonusing programs like AFT. AFT and bonusing often require nowadys at least SAS 3.01 or better. Games like the old Monopoly do not support that level. Thus you will find them in the older casinos that do not have the bells and whistles of the larger newer casinos. I do not think the Monopoly machine has a revocation without a fix. Also a vendor will retire a cabinet. For instance if the cabinet was a 550 then the company would not support it. If they are not putting it in the Bluebird or BB2 or their newer cabinet then the casino would be forced to remove the machines.

Imho the Ebay bank of slots was the worst one I ever played.  It sucked you dry in short order.  When it first appeared at Fandango's in Carson City, Nv it was mobbed.  But it didn't last very long. It was nearly always empty after a few months.  It's now gone.

Yeah EBAY was a flop in more than one jurisdiction. And yes, if the coin in is not there then there is no justification to contiue paying the participation split (which may have a minumum fee) to keep the bank on the floor.

Atlantic City still has these games

The Sand's in PA had Reel em' in and now they are gone....but they were always packed. I use to play right beside them and some folks were winning way too much. I'm thinking that's why they are gone. If 3 people played the lowest bet and 1 played the highest, every time one of the low betters won the 1 playing the highest made out like a bandit off of there win. Maybe the community machines were just a bad idea.

Well maybe, but today the manufacturers are coming out with a lot of community game banks, more so than before. Hopefully they got the math correct this time. (for the sake of the casinos, lol.)

Still these banks are owned by WMS not the casinos so even if they are a hot bank, they may have been replaced due to new product, performance gaurantees, discontinued parts and programs. If the machines have a high volitility and are paying out too much, the casinos probably would adjust the payback to compensate for that. Then dump them if they just are not holding correctly.
