Title: an online auction with jumbo vegas casino slot toppers and signs
Post by: heights310 on October 22, 2011, 10:21:37 PM
Not a Craigs List.

Lots of really big Las Vegas casino signs looks like 2 auction dates.
Some cool stuff but way too big and far away for me to even think about it (well I did think about some)

Cool auction Bill, great find!!!   K+  :185-

That's about one hour from me. Inspection says do not enter building-guests must sign in but gives no times that items can be inspected. Think I'll call them tomorrow and see if I can get in there to inspect the signs.

Looks like they had a pirate ship from TI the first of Oct.:

Alot of money for a little ship. And the cannons too. Guess someone just had to have it.
The local high school sports teams here are called the Pirates, wouldn't be surpised to see that ship on a homecoming float.

With the 15% buyers premium and 8.1% sales tax for me it looks like I might not be getting anything. Nothing there that I just have to have.
Most won't even fit in my tiny slot room.  :37-
Sure most of the smaller items will get the most bids but still will be fun to try!!!

All of them are too big for me. I would like to take
the plexi signs out of some and leave the rest....

Interesting items at really low prices -- I wish I needed some of them.

I am trying to figure out what Casino.
Station Casinos are my best guess.

There are a few items I like but don't like their pick up terms. They give a 4 hr window on a specific day and if your not there to get the item its considered abandoned and you pay more to have it disposed.

Hard to manage from Canada.

I been watching fast track for years but never won anything from them ,  if you live near vegas you will get some great deals  but if not they kill you on the shipping they use

Well, I bought one sign. Hardly nothing sold! I'm sure the initial $25 bid was the seller.
Never got to go there first to check them out, got stuck on-call at work and couldn't venture that far away.  :8-
So Friday I hope to get my foot in the door and snoop around for next week's auction.

The sign has neon so let's hope it works!

Cool sign, I wish i was closer  Would like a couple of the progressives to play with ( CHEAP enough ) but the shipping and removal just does not work well when  your far away

Was real tempted to buy one of those monster signs, but no place to put it, at least no place where the Mrs. wouldn't kill me.  :72-

Really want to see how much progressive hardware is in those signs. I see meters but am guessing most everything else is gone.

I'm lucky that this is close to me, most good deals are usually too far away for me too.

Depending on the sign hardware
What you can expect in the monster sign is to have the meter + the link controller.
You would need something like a Con2 to drive the link controller.

I bought a 10' round sign years ago. It had 4 power supplies and a Cham4 in it.
I had the unit stripped - I took all the display boards (9 of them at 16" long), power supplies and controller and had this stuff shipped.
It fit in a box only slightly larger than that you would buy office paper in.

I drive this with a Con1. I have since bought more panels and now have a 2 x 8 consisting of 16 panels.

Picked up my sign this morning. Looks good, needs a cleanup.
I removed the pole it rides on and bypassed the the rotation motor and it fired right up!! :71-
Two-sided sign, the side shown has one area where the neon is not lighting up next to the 2. Other side is 100%.
There's a switch for each side. Plan is to mount this big beast on one of my flat top slots and just light one side.

I was able to checkout some of the other signs and progressive meters. Most were on storage racks beyond my reach. Some had Mikohn, some CDS, and some were Paltronics. Most had controllers and power supplies, others had just the meters.
The Paltronics had what looked like a small computer box, does anyone know anything about Paltronics??

Nice! See anyone else picking up anything? It looked like one bidder was on a lot of items (maybe seller?)
Sure wish I was closer. you don't see that kind of stuff very often.

Hey, that looks great!  You can bet they paid a lot more than $30 for it originally.

Congrats on a nice little score.

I got there at 9:30am to pickup my sign. No one there to pic up signs, but there was a few others picking up other stuff. The warehouse is leased by Fast Track and had other merchandise like resturant equip, etc.
Sure that the intial $25 bid was the seller. Not sure who actually owns the signs. The auction appeared to be a real bust for the seller!
Only generic signs like CASINO, ATM, PHONE, actually had bids.
Someone bought the SPAM topper, it looked in the pics to be dented near the top.
The signs were all over the place, not in any order as I would expect. Most were up on racks and they had no ladders!! So I couldn't inspect like I wanted to. The only value of the big signs are the meter components IMO. After reading up (on NLG) on the CDS and Paltronics I think Mikhon would be the safer way to go as far as support from other members.

I see for the upcoming auction someone has bid on the round Fiesta sign. It was on the top rack and I tried hard to make out the dots from the meter behind the smoked cover but just couldn't see them. It was just too far up there to tell. That thing would be worthless if the meter was removed!

I can't imagine trying to ship the one I bought. They had four like mine and the other three were damaged. They told me it would cost $5 to pallet mine and I said "No pallet, it's going in my station wagon." I had foam and a big blanket for it to sit on so the neon wouldn't get damaged.
It's heavy too!
I am tempted to take time off work Tuesday and go there with a ladder so I can inspect the components in the signs being sold on Wednesday.
But then I would have to take Friday off to pick up the items. And, like Jay said, you need a con1 or con2 to to run these big displays. Not going to find one of those in a sign. I did see two ChamII's with power supplies in one sign. Not Standalone.
If I do, I'll let you know as you said earlier your interested in progressives. Should be able to fit two, maybe three large signs in my truck bed. Right now I'm thinking it's not worth it.

Uniman, That looks like it was a great deal!  :244- :244-
less than 50 bucks and a few hour drive! :3-

Sure hope they don't just scrap the ones that did not sell :60-

Uni - Had I known you were going I would have bid on a bunch of stuff and let you store it.  :279-
My wife thanks you for NOT telling me.

Looks great - are you going to fix the neon on that one side or just let it be ?

My supervisor needed some time off so I ended up on call the days before the auction. I didn't get a chance to inspect anything so I wasn't planning on bidding. But I watched the auction and when nothing was getting bids thought what the heck I'll take a chance on one.
Never thought I was going to buy anything.
Really wish I could have gone and inspected, one sign had several meters and was Mikohn!! That one would have been worth dismantling.

I'm leaving the neon as-is for now. Not that bad and it's on the backside. Just happy it works!!

Update; I went to the warehouse today to take one last look at the signs selling tomorrow. Found out that in last week's auction bidder 29158 who bid on all 100 items at the minimum bid was actually a real bidder. They told me this guy has been hauling stuff out and has more to pick up!!
And he bid on most eveything in tomorrow's auction! Who is this guy??

BUZZ, this sounds like something you would do! It isn't you, is it??    :72- :72-

Most all the signs are just too BIG!! They're huge!! The progressive equipment is mostly meters and linkers like Jay said. Was hoping to find a CON in there somewhere, but no go.
Turns out that Fast Track bought the signs from, I think, Station Casino's and had to take all in the deal. There are several more signs they have that are not listed yet, so I expect another auction, maybe. Most of the better stuff sold last week, and a few decent ones tomorrow. The rest is scrap.

I was hoping!
Will have to watch fleabay and craigslist and see who bought it all. I could see buying some selected items, but bidding on most everything?
Wow!

I visited a vegas sign warehouse for used signage a couple of years ago.
They signs without meters were going for 1k, and when they found out I just wanted the sign and did not want to contract them to make new plexi they were looking at adding a 20% premium to my purchase.

They did not get why someone would want a sign that has the name of another casino on it (in this case Ceasars) nor the fact that it was going to my basement.

1K by the way was a non starter. My top dollar was $300 and it was no where as big as any of these.

If someone had a place to store them and sell them at auction or to other casinos they could make good coin.

Well, the second sign auction is over and it took everything I had to not bid!! A few of those signs were excellent but just too damn big to fit in my gameroom.  :8-
The Pelican Rock Cafe sign came from the long gone Castaways Casino. (researched it) I was very close to buying that one but we never visited the Castaways so no sentimental value there. Gave up on buying one for the meters as they need a con1/2 to drive them and I have two standalones now.
There were more bids in this auction and several buyers unlike last week.

Heights310  :259-    for starting this post! Really think I got one of the nicest signs there that fits my gameroom.

Thanks Uniman, glad you got a nice topper.

I should have worked harder on getting some smaller ones from the first auction
but they told me they could not get them ready for shipping and to call an outside company to get them ready and a carrier could come and get them, just too many steps and so far away with no inspection before hand...

Looks like Fast Track in Vegas finally found some slots to auction off. Too bad they're slant top tournament machines.
Pickup only. Didn't see any fine print about who can buy them.
