Check to make sure your belly door is closed and then the main door. If it doesn't reset you probably have bad door optics or an optics alignment problem. I was getting various reel tilts till I finally bypassed door optics after replacing them twice. They just wouldn't adjust enough to line up properly. Goes back to IGT's crappy door piano hinge. Just a suggestion...

You posted this as a S 2000, were not working on your Bally are we ??  None of my S 2000 take me into book keeping when I turn the key with the door open.  :103- :103- :103-

I got a whole load of machines that had SG000155 game chips and I got a s**T load of reel tilts All I had to do was open the door and turn the key, close the door the machine would boot up and try to finish the spin. Nine times out of ten it would tilt again,  (changed to SG000363 no more tilts).  Had about fifteen machines do this.  Anymore if I see a SG000155 it goes into the trash.

Let's be clear, I know nothing about the top reel you have.

Staz, just out of curiosity, how do you turn the power off on your machine?  With the power switch inside of the machine or from a power strip?

The door optics topic always gives me the creeps, so I shut all of my machines on and off at the power switch and set my token values up at 100 dollar value now to minimize the number of times that i have to open and close the door and put wear and tear on the coin comparitor and mechanical components of the hopper.

I know nothing about "the big wheel" either, but can it be manually spun with the power off like a standard reel?  Maybe spinning it with the power off would help it...again, assuming it can be done.

Staz, if you turn the machine off and on what does that top wheel do? It's a netplex device so I would think if it weren't working or was the problem, you'd come up with a netplex device error, not a 5th reel tilt error

Title: Re: HOW DO I CLEAR A REEL 5 TILT ???
Post by: cowboygames on November 05, 2011, 07:22:23 AM
Also, just to be clear, that's a 3 reel base using a 3 reel wire harness, not a modified 5 reel wire harness, correct?

yes its a 3 reel harness im check mpu board.......

i swapped out mpu boards with a diff set of the software and no change reel still wobbleing........ no change same error codes after going through the 3 sec clear with a diff mpu.....

Title: Re: HOW DO I CLEAR A REEL 5 TILT ???

I was asking about the 5 reel wire harness because I use one on one of my 3 reel machines with the 4th and 5th reel plugs jumpered. If this was the case and one of the jumpers came loose it would error on that reel. Do you have an alternate backplane to try?

Title: Re: HOW DO I CLEAR A REEL 5 TILT ???
Post by: staz on November 05, 2011, 01:19:07 PM
no i dont but i checked all the plugs.... all secure........only other guess it could be a bad reel motor?

Title: Re: HOW DO I CLEAR A REEL 5 TILT ???
Post by: shivwitts on November 05, 2011, 01:25:36 PM
No one mentioned that the "B" door switch may be bad. open up your cash box door and check the accuator. If it is saying closure B then that is telling you that the cash box door was recently opened and that would cause a reel tilt. IGT S2000 error codes do not stack like Bally codes.

Title: Re: HOW DO I CLEAR A REEL 5 TILT ???
Post by: staz on November 05, 2011, 01:49:10 PM
how do you check the actuater and where is it?

Title: Re: HOW DO I CLEAR A REEL 5 TILT ???
Post by: shivwitts on November 05, 2011, 01:53:51 PM
The actautor is the metal arm that is connected to the microswitch. The switch is near the locking mechanism. A lot of times the acuator falls off or is damaged but the switch could still be worn also. The error "B Closure" is not an error at all it is just letting you know what happened to the machine prior to last game play. Closure is a past participle of close. But if you in fact have a "B Closure" message then for a fact that switch came open during the last game play or after.

Cashbox door switch, if it's not already bypassed, should be, with the wires cut off and tied together. Same with the belly door switch :89-

Title: Re: HOW DO I CLEAR A REEL 5 TILT ???
Post by: staz on November 05, 2011, 01:59:51 PM
would that cause a reel tilt 5?

Title: Re: HOW DO I CLEAR A REEL 5 TILT ???
Post by: shivwitts on November 05, 2011, 02:00:25 PM
Yeah i forgot everyone here has home machines. Our gaming commission will not let us do that. But if it is indeed spliced together then you would or should not get the B closure message. SO it is worth a check. If it is spliced by twisting the wires, then it is possible for that to come undone or have a loose connection. Also with a lot of usage with your cash can you can cut other wires partially and have one ground to the chassis causing erratic signals. I have seen that happen also. The biggest mistake my technicians make is not check the easy things first. They assume everything is good and it has to be deep into the machine. Just verify the splice is still good then move on at least.

Any door open will cause any reel to tilt including reel 5 tilt.

If someone had swapped the harness of a three reel with a five reel maybe it will. I use the required parts in our shop so that would be something to check out. Other wise it should not.

Title: Re: HOW DO I CLEAR A REEL 5 TILT ???
Post by: shivwitts on November 05, 2011, 02:16:44 PM
Check your switch if the red little button is not rounded on the top and is flat then it is going to be intermittent. Also maybe the door is coming loose. If not then continue with the troubleshooting. I just did not see that the B door was check at all in the prior posts.

Title: Re: HOW DO I CLEAR A REEL 5 TILT ???
Post by: cowboygames on November 05, 2011, 02:16:54 PM
Staz, when you plug the game in or turn on the power switch, does the bonus wheel start a slow incramental rotation while the machine boots until it comes up with the error? I've watched these bonus wheel machines turn on before and it seems like that wheel always did that before the main reels finally spun and the game was ready to play. That's another question. When it boots, do the reels spin before the error or does it never get that far?

We do to usually, but sometimes ya gotta use what's handy. That reminds me, I gotta pick up another 3 reel harness...

Title: Re: HOW DO I CLEAR A REEL 5 TILT ???
Post by: shivwitts on November 05, 2011, 02:22:41 PM
Yeah i hear you. It would be nice sometimes to do that here, but if the commission hears of it they may not be happy. But in this case a three wheel with a bonus wheel can have a reel tilt with the b door coming open. A lot of times the bonus wheel reports as reel 5.

when the game boots up the bill validater cycles through then the bonus wheel starts to shake not going foward as it suppose to be going slowly around....then no data flashes across the progressive......then after a minute the reels spin and the progressive pops up but  errors occor..... CALL ATTENDANT, CLOSURE B,DOOR OPEN M,AND REEL 5 TILT........

So you close the main door and still have M door open? And you checked your opticsand door switches, interesting. I will ask some of my techs if they have an idea.

Title: Re: HOW DO I CLEAR A REEL 5 TILT ???
Post by: shivwitts on November 05, 2011, 02:54:01 PM
We had some bonus wheels that did that. We reseated some of the wheels and their connectors and plugs to get the tilt to go away. It may be a bad motor on the wheel. Can you get it running, and if you do what does the machine say when the tilt intiailly happens? If it does'nt have a door open tilt thenit is the bonus wheel or an IO or other factor controlling it. I know you have been through this with the other guys, i am just trying to catch up. Its always good to go through it all again. I tell the techs that your best tool for troubleshooting is the other techs you work with or can talk to.

Title: Re: HOW DO I CLEAR A REEL 5 TILT ???
Post by: Buzz on November 05, 2011, 02:55:48 PM
I think everyone needs to step back and think.  Staz says he closes the door and the lower three reels spin. To me that means all the switches are working as they should. If just one of them was open the lower reels would not boot up. Unless I'm missing something, the error has to be caused by the one reel that will not spin, in this case the top one. If I remember correctly in that top box there are driver boards and all kinds of BS that I know nothing about.

shivwitts  I'm not trying to get into a pissing contest with you but a S 2000 can and will stack errors.

Title: Re: HOW DO I CLEAR A REEL 5 TILT ???
Post by: stayouttadabunker on November 05, 2011, 03:06:23 PM
Buzz,
What happens in the lower part of the machine doesn't affect his topbox wheel.
The problem is that his bonus wheel optical tabs are missing the optics...common with WOF's.

The hub has to come off along and with the power off,
you manually turn the wheel to see where it's either hitting or missing the optics.
When the hub is screwed back on, you have to make sure the
wheel is perfectly vertical and not out of alignment with the optics.
It's a very fine line in the optics/tabs area and it must allow the
tabs to go completely through the optics or you get a reel error [5].

Once the wheel is aligned, re-install the glass, power up the machine
and you ought to be good to go.

okay this is to weird...... i slammed my cashbox door closed a few times and closed the door and all the errors went away.......so there has to be something in the cash box door that caused me to be up all night messing with this machine....... i really want to through this machine out the window....lol jk........so now who can give me a picture detail of what to look for in my cashbox door and how to tighten it....... im very clueless when it comes to optics........ i really appreciate all the help on here....... i bet my cashbox is worn out cuz i open it a few thousand times being my machines a $150 a spin......i cant believe it was the cashbox all this time......

Title: Re: HOW DO I CLEAR A REEL 5 TILT ???
Post by: shivwitts on November 05, 2011, 03:13:31 PM
Yes Buzz I know they do , but they do not do it like Bally's do. In an IGT you dont clear them like a Bally by restting the options switch. IGT will have multiple errors but will not "stack" them like Bally machines. The netplex will not allow one error to be repeated several times like the other. But thank you for your clarification. And yes the driver boards a lot of the time up top can be reseated (dont hot swap). My apologies for asking about the B door. I do realize that several of the people on this site would make awesome slot technicians. Who i would gladly have work in our shop. So i am not trying to step on any ones feet. Just trying to help.

I am glad you got it working!!

That's awesome. These machines are just wierd sometimes. You never know where the fault will lie. Just remember with IGT and Netplex the cause could be anywhere.

This is why most people at home disable this switch and bypass it by tying the wires together.  :71-

Yes, those are the wires for the Bill Door Switch, just make sure they are tied together well and that no wire is exposed that can short to anything. Best to use a crimp connector or wire nut and cover with electrical tape.

You may want to check and reseat all top box connections, especially to the reel driver board...

closure M means you have closed the main door.

I posted a long time ago, and recently a couple of times that bypassing that switch is not a good idea and will not affect trouble shooting if you make sure the switch is working when you close the BV door.

IGT coded the SG (Game Chips) so when the BV door opens it disables the machine, BV and shows the tilt "DOOR OPEN B" and when closed (no other issues) machine and BV are enabled.

This is what the machine is expecting concerning that switch and the cash can
home user
You open main door (tilt shows on VFD) or belly door (tilt may show on VFD if belly door switch installed -same as main door open)
You open BV door (switch opens) machine disables game play, BV and displays BV door tilt
remove cash can
do what ever you wanted to do with the cash can
install cash can
close BV door (switch closes)
you close main or belly door
machine enables game and BV

I have noticed when I bypassed mine shortly before I made the first post saying not to bypass the switch the machine took way longer to enable the BV.

Staz  Try opening and closing the main door latch 6 or 7 times. You don't have to swing the door open, just lift the latch and then close it.  Might not help but worth a try.

WHY WOULD IT CAUSE A REEL TILT 5 EVERY TIME IT TOUCHED THE BACK OF THE TOPBOX????????? i straped it away from the back panel and now machine working fine again......

Post a picture Staz, sounds like an external power supply for something. Maybe it doesn't even need to be there and it hanging from the wires is pulling on something else

That's suppose to be there, it's a choke. Should be plastic coated though and touching the metal case of the game shouldn't hurt anything. You've still got a bad connection:(

That black part is a ferrite core.
The wires being wrapped in and around it creates a noise filter,
There is also one on the cabinet I/O to back lit reel light controller harness (it is near the cabinet I/O)

I am thinking you have a loose connection, broken wire, exposed wire (damaged insulation) or the like going on you moving it around fixed the issue.
I would investigate why it fails in the original position but works where it is now.

im thinking it has a little weight to it so by me strapping it so it just didnt hang could of been pulling on a wire and the wire wasnt making a connection..... its just so damm hard to get back there i wish igt made doors in back of top boxxes......lol

come to find out it still started to give me a reel tilt 5 error once again :37- :37- :37- i went feeling behind there again while the machine was on and pulled out all the wires that were crimped up under the motor while and the wheel again began to move normal..... after that i did a start up test 10 times and all times the wheel turned normal....... im almost betting it has to be something in the wireing coming out of the reel motor...... but what though......and why would it go bad after a year.......

Sounds like you're gonna need to remove screws/nuts and pull that wheel out for inspection

just because you only had it a year doesent make it only a year old  YOU DID NOT BUY IT BRAND NEW. Many machines have had 24hr a day running time on them for years . Its like doggie years

You got it already? Wow! That's fast! I just mailed it Tuesday morning!?
I'm glad it's working...I wasn't sure if the harnes was going to be of enough length.
In any event, I'm glad it's working!  :89-

Just for kicks, leave the machine on for a few hours and let things warm up.
If the tilt errors come back the I think your problem lies elsewhere.
Once a machine fully warms up - any faults that lay with the reel driver IC board components will show up.
That's when we have to keep our fingers crossed
and hope the problem was only just the old harness and nothing more.

Let us know when you get a "Spin" of the bonus Wheel.
That's when I think it may be possible the tilt error might possibly resurface.
Keep us updated today...
For now, keep your fingers crossed and hope you get some winners!  :89-
