Title: Battery questions ( again...) Post by: CYRIL1973 on November 05, 2011, 10:33:26 AM Hi there,
My Vision series gives me some problem: Main battery low: I changed the coin size one, I bought it new but shows: 2,5 volts... Is that enough? I changed the green battery as well. The rumour says there's a third battery in the top box... Can't see any... Where this one would be? Thanks for your help. Cyril Title: Re: Battery questions ( again...) Post by: OhioGaming on November 06, 2011, 02:31:03 AM Main battery is on the MPU board. 2.5V is not enough juice.
New and new old stock (NOS) is not the same. Title: Re: Battery questions ( again...) Post by: Foster on November 06, 2011, 02:44:29 AM 2.5 volts enough considering the CMOS RAM only requires 2 or more volts to maintain data per device specifications.
RAM uses micro amps in standby mode. When I swapped the 504 out the button battery tested at 2.4xV and no error from the machine at the time. I did put the 504 back in a while back forgot to check battery but did not get a battery error from machine then either. I needed to test a 502 board so I put the 504B and its motherboard in since I knew the board was good other than battery being a bit low. The 502 was also about 2.3-2.4V at the time it did not error either. Title: Re: Battery questions ( again...) Thanks for your comments. I was wondering at one one thing... Wouldn't mt coin sized battery upside down? If so, I can understand why it shows low battery... The picture is awful but good enough to have a look at the battery. Title: Re: Battery questions ( again...) Post by: Foster on November 06, 2011, 06:45:11 AM Battery in a socket the positive(+) side goes up.
The positive side goes to the left terminal (it is also marked positive (+) The inside (terminal on the right) is the negative It definitely looks like either you or your tech reversed the polarity when installing the battery. Title: Re: Battery questions ( again...) Post by: CYRIL1973 on November 06, 2011, 06:53:33 AM Thanks for confirming.
My tech must have been drunk :200-. I cannot blame him that much as I was there when he did it and I realized his mistake only 5 minutes ago. :5- Title: Re: Battery questions ( again...) Post by: CYRIL1973 on November 06, 2011, 08:35:30 AM The battery is now soldered the right way But I still got a Low battery message.
1/ Either 2,5 volts is too low 2/ I need a reset :103- :103- :103- Title: Re: Battery questions ( again...) Post by: brianfink on November 09, 2011, 02:32:43 AM you should still change the battery at that voltage it probly won't last more than a few months
