Title: Backlit reels not lighting up?
Post by: BR549 Auto Sales on November 08, 2011, 05:53:10 AM
I just got a machine in and got everything working except that when there is a payout, there is no backlighting behind the reels, any ideas as what to look for here?

Thanks,

David

Does the machine have backlit reels? If so, check to make sure the reel harness is plugged into the controller on the back wall of the cabinet. That the controller is plugged into the cabinet IO board on the MPU housing and that the controller has power plugged into the upper left corner 6 pin molex plug on the control board. Start with that and let us know what you find.

Look to see if your machine has lights in the reel Assembly and a light board  as shown

ok, it does not have the light board in the back like in the 2nd picture. Can one be added? Will there be unused plugs on the harness to plug into it?

Thanks,

David

It will require a set of backlit reels, reel harness, harness from controler to i/o card and the controler. There are different controllers for 3,4,5 reel machines

Thanks, I will try to find those parts from another member or a vendor the. Even though it is an s2000 machine, did some of them not have the backlit reels and board in the back?

To add it you'll have to get a reel harness for backlit reels, make sure your reels have backlighting and you'll need the harness that goes from the backlight controller to the cabinet IO board. The power plug for the backlight controller is normally zip-tied to the wire harness just above where the controller mounts to the back of the cabinet. There are kits you can buy through one of the vendors above, post a classified and you get what you need at a reasonable price

Quite a few of them didn't have backlit reels. Saved the casinos a fortune on maintanance costs. Same goes for casinos that didn't install multimedia boards and sound simms for enhanced sounds

I ran into this same problem with my first S2000. Even after buying the back lite reels, control board and harness mine still didn't work till I up graded my game chips. Couldn't the same happen here since we don't know what on his MPU for game chips? I ended up going to a set of 363's.
