 :103-         I have looked over the web and can not come up with an answer to what machine I have...  Every time I try to look up info on various sites it just doesn't quite get to the point... I have a three reel video slot machine that has only one tag on the outer case of the machine that says.... Fortune Coin Co. Model 2. ,,, serial num. 00141....  It lacks a production date and says pat. pend.   I would appreciate any information about the machine that is available really...  And if it's possible to alter the win/loss ratio easily?  Other than a bulb or two a mild cleaning and a new memory battery that I have done this game seems to work just fine, it can be a bit loose more often than not however, it'll still go on the take here n there.... But overall seems to put out about 95 percent of it's holdings in a matter of an hour or less of constant play.

Forgot to add, it's a three pay line machine....

Fortune Coin was started in 1975 and was bought by Si Redd who used their video poker to essentially launch Sircoma/IGT in 1976. I don't know if your machine predates Sircoma's purchase or not, but one of our history experts might be able to tell you that.

The short answer is no, you can't. It would require replacing the chips if you could find any, and possibly having to do a clear as well, although perhaps not with a machine that old.

In addition, the Genies were specific to Harrah's (and the Bar symbols are Harrah's also) meaning that the firmware (chips) were designed specifically for Harrah's and were not distributed to any other casino, which would make finding different percentage chip(s) next to impossible.

Ouch, rare chips?  Not good I suppose... And yes, four reels, I meant to say three payout lines... Thanks for the greetings as well, and the info.. So from what I had read on another post, am I to understand that the workings in the machine are about at the end of their lifetime? Someone had mentioned the caps can "explode"? On that note I take it I should retire the use of this machine or sell it? And in this case the rarity of the machine, does it make it valuable or does it take away from the value because of that fact? Sorry for all the questions...   Thanks again...

Yet another question,,,, Is it possible to obtain a manual for this machine?

Electrolytic capacitors get old and fail. They will often puff out when this happens but don't worry, they don't generally explode in the literal sense.  :5-

I'd say, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."  If the caps on the monitor board go bad your monitor will have problems. When it comes time to replace them, you'll end up "shotgunning" and replacing all of the caps at one time, as that is considered best practice. Worry about it when it happens.

The Fortune I & II manuals I have are for the IGT versions. I don't think they'd be of help. Actually,  I was hoping that another member would post and confirm the age and details of your machine since I don't know much about these.

If it works and you enjoy playing it, why sell it? Do what the rest of us do: Put it in a dark room and let it multiply. :30- Once you've got two machines together they'll reproduce like rabbits.  :145- :97- :97- :97-

Well, an update on my machine.  I had replaced the memory battery and set it on a timer to keep the thing charged and I dont mind running it a while every other day, "it gets played more that way too".  Keeping it charged as well as some minor play here and there have seemed to back off the "give" a bit. It has it's fair days of going on the take! I had changed all the bulbs, cleaned all the panels, fixed the connections to the change drum as you would sometimes win without paying then you'd have to jiggle the innards once in a while... But no more of that. She's a clean and respectable piece of work that now resides in my parents house! Yeah, ma is a slot fiend and she appreciates its use more than I do... More power to her, especially when I stop by and play it I get to keep my winnings! HA! Thanks again for all the help!

Congrats on getting your machine running nicely.  Would you care to post a couple of the pictures of the screen with the machine on next time you're over there?  I'm just curious to see the graphics.

As far as the machine paying too much or not enough, that's simply a case of a really small sample size.  The machine is designed to make money for the casino over the long term (tens of thousands of spins) -- anything can happen in the short term, including streaks where you seemingly "can't lose", as well as streaks where you seemingly "can't win".  It'll all even out in the end (with the result being slightly in the house's favor).

Well, I believe Ive had my use out of this fine piece.  So now it's time to share the experience!  If anyone is interested in this machine and your in the chicago-land or rockford area drop me a line! I recently acquired an old cabinet radio that will be taking up this machines space, so it's gotta go. "sadly".  I'll post a pic or two of the graphics sometime this coming weekend.
