i was thinking of replacing a couple of lights in my machine cuz they look kind of dull......... any suggestions which are brighter or are all the same??  i need the ones in my reel glass and topglass replaced......... my reel glass model number is F15T8-CW........ is the topglass one the same model type as the reel light?????

they should have new ones that will fit.
Get the same size but ask for "daylight" bulbs...

Staz, I think artic white is the brightest you can get in that build and stay within the confines of the ballast. Lowes has like 3 differant bulbs of differing brightness's that will work. Heat is your biggest worry

instead of cool white, I use the Day Light (full spectrum type) bulbs. Super bright white and looks fantastic!

It's the difference between yellow and white. Looks especially good with Crystal Sevens white glass...

You know Staz, ordinarily I'd side with Mr. BellMan and recommend full spectrum daylight bulbs, but in your case I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that you just leave the machine alone for a while and enjoy playing it!  :200- :25- :30- :97- :97-

okay i went to lowes and bought 2 sunshine f15t8's came home put them in and it was to bright i didnt like...... i think those would be more for a alpha type of machine......anyway brought them back  and exchanged them for 2 f15t8's in cool white ... which my machine had cool whites in it originally that  were dull.......but now the new cool whites  look much better.......

Fluorescents definately lose some of their luster over time and if you leave your machines on for prolonged periods of time the cool whites will be easier on your glass too.

ya i like the cools  specially with backlite reel strips......looks a lot better...... the sunshine ones had to much glow to them........like a tanning bed lights lol

The sunshine might be good for use in a Round Top. mine seams dim compared to the belly and reel

The color scheme of the theme installed will also make a difference. The brighter lamps would probably be best suited to games with busy artwork and darker colors, and probably more suited to the top award glass than the belly glass (and definitely more so than the reel glass.)

Plus think of it this way.... At least you are not putting your glass and strips into the tanning bed now!

I have a machine somewhere that I have never turned on that had a "replacement bulb" that fits in just like the tube flourescents that is a row of LEDs... Now I want to look for it and put it in a machine to see how it looks......

i saw those led tubes but i didnt want to take a chance to fry anything on my machine.....plus there like 30 bucks each lamp i would need 3 of them......cool white i think are in all the machines at the casino that are my theme.......

I use those on my reel glass to protect the strips. They bypass the balast and plug right in, very nice:)

BUNKER WAKE UP    Its time for the fluorescent bulb test  . All different types of spectrum bulbs need to photographed in the top glass to show the different lighting it produces .   To compare side by side so the best bulbs can be used.  are you up for the challenge   

a better challange would be making a video for dummies like mysekf how to be able to get my machine to accept tickets.......lol

The look and temperature of the lights in any photograph or video would be significantly altered by the color correction settings of the camera. It would be very difficult and subjective to try to get the video or stills to accurately reflect what the lamps look like to the naked eye.

SO there you go The answer is simple . If you don't like the lighting in your glass play with your eyes closed . You can still here a win if the sound is on

I should add also, those LED tubes wouldn't be bright enough for top or belly glass so don't waste your money that way.

I agree with the fact the LED bulbs don't work well in the top or belly glass. I picked up four S-2000 machines and two of them were converted to LED's. I'm going to go back to the fluorescent bulbs in the top & belly glasses and use the LED bulbs on my reel glass to help keeping the reel strips from fading. I was really surprised to find these in my machines since they do cost $30+ apiece..

AG&E sells an LED replacement for florescent tubes that I have seen in person at the G2E. NO ISSUES AND LOOKS GREAT!

I wonder how may diodes are in those. I connected 4 panels with 72 total diodes for a belly light once and it was still not as bright as a fluorescent bulb

I think LEDs are a waste of money because of the way the light is so pointy
but Bellman hit it on the head.
I agree it might be good for something as he and Cowboy say about saving it just for use on the reel glass area to prevent the god-awful fugging ugly fading that's happening with S2000 strips.

I don't have a problem as my only personal S2000 is rarely even on but I can only imagine how the strips are getting wiped out in casinos with 24/7 machines.

Also, I noticed that it takes a lot more diodes to get any brightness.
How do these save money when they're way over-priced
and actually need more juice to get any decent candlepower?

pretty soon once we all get avp's we wont have to worry about reel strips and lights.... theres no reel strips in them  :97-

I like the sunshine idea!  Add a bit of sunshine and it can almost count as a constructive outdoor hobby!  ;)

The "D"  Daylight flourescent tubes are much whiter light compared to the "CW" cool whites. Very nice!
