Title: A question about casinos in general Post by: RayV on December 01, 2011, 12:58:18 AM I was wondering if someone can answer what might be a dumb question?
A buddy of mine just picked up a IGT S+ Double Diamond slot machine and the guy he bought it from says he bought it directly from a local casino here in Detroit a few years ago. I told him I thought that was BS.... :103- But is it possible that he got it direct from the casino somehow? Would they sell machines that are retired from the floor to the public? Thanks Title: Re: A question about casinos in general Post by: cowboygames on December 01, 2011, 01:49:56 AM If he bought it from a dealer it's possible. Casinos selling directly to home users is highly unlikely. They sell in large quantities to wholesalers, usually pretty cheap to get rid of them. It's not impossible, just highly unlikely
Title: Re: A question about casinos in general Post by: uniman on December 01, 2011, 02:11:28 AM In Michigan the casino will sell to dealers only. Michigan has a 25 year rule, machines must be 25 yrs old or older. Although not strickly enforced, the casinos would have to follow the law. With that said, there are dealers in MI who have bought machines from MI casinos.

I think it was just a story to help the deal to go through or something like that. Hey Jim...the Universals are still going strong, I have not had one problem with them at all :131- Title: Re: A question about casinos in general Post by: kforeman on December 01, 2011, 03:08:44 AM here in AZ we can't sell old machines to anyone without a state gaming license. if an individual wanted to purchase the license so he or she could buy a slot machine from a casino i suppose it would be possible, but absurdly expensive. we sell old machines to dealers or trade them in to the manufacturers for credit on new machine purchases. i cant speak for other jurisdiction's but i would think they are all pretty similar.
