Title: 802 reel glass lighting for "insert coin"
Post by: Jeff99 on December 03, 2011, 05:06:47 AM
I got an 802 that was rejiggered to look like a 742a.  The person took the outer hold lights and made them "Insert Coin" and "coin accepted"  .  The Coin accepted light is actually the left side bottom light.  The light above it is "winner paid"  On the right side is the "Insert Coin" light.  The enclosed picture is the frame I'm working on.  I haven't installed the 802 reel frame yet.

Question:  Does the insert coin light actually exist on this machine, the guy who changed it to a 742a may have jury rigged it to have a light for this purpose. Or, does the "Insert Coin" marker on the reel glass stay on and there is no special purpose "coin Insert" light bulb?  :30-
Thanks,
Jeff

The insert coin stays on until a coin is dropped in and activates the coin switch.  If your insert coin stay on then the dropped coin is not pushing the wire down to activate the coin in switch . Some times the coin missed the wire that goes down to aciivate the coin switch in your coin acceptor unit.

If the light does not go out it could be you have a bad coin switch or a wire that is not firmly attached to it.

The coin light should go off when a coin is inserted = you pull the handle & if you get a winner it then pays out & light up winner paid or if no winner then the deposit coin light should come back on.

I know it sound difficult, thou it should be a easy fix. Get the book and a ohm continuity meter.
      Good luck
if you decide to give up let me know.

Some thing is not correct as you do not have the hold reel buttons one the front panel. I think you have a 802 mechanism in a different cabient.
If you part it out let me know. could use a few parts.

It is an 802.  The frame you saw is incorrect, but I do have the correct one.  They cut the buttons out when he made it a 742a.  I have traced the buttons and they do operate the hold function correctly.  trying to trace the coil release for the cancel button.
I don't have the correct glass.  For the time being i'm using a Danish Mustang glass, but will start looking for a quick draw reel and belly glass.
Thanks,
Jeff

Here is the belly glass , has a scratch by the W in Draw.  Black opaque paint on back side should take care of that.
