Title: game king acts goofy
Post by: keith on December 06, 2011, 11:28:29 PM
my gameking has been acting up it can be on and no ones playing it and the screen will get scrambled looking and it will restart thens its fine sometimes for hours but not all the time it will do it a few times with in minutes. seems like if your playing it will do it more often. this is what i have done so far. i have changed the game it still does it. put a diffrent mpu board in it and it still does it. so could it be a weak power supply if so will a power suppy out of a s-2000 work in it? any suggestions
thanks
keith

Have you tried reseating your monitor with the power off? Some pics of your slot machine might help with the diagnosis. I've seen weak power supplies do strange things to slot machines, but it sounds like something else might be causing your machine to reset itself. An S2000 power supply MIGHT work in your machine as long as they have the same input/output and connector.

a power supply would be my next swap.  usually GK's start rebooting themselves when the power supply is getting weak.  if the p/s doesn't do the trick i would reseat chips and pixel cards - but you did that when you changed the mpu so power supply or as ChizzleMonkey suggested swap the monitor if you have it!

Good advice in both posts above this one.  Couple things I might add is that the power supply from your S2000 will work if it is a "3Y Power".  If it is made my Wintec or Condor...then don't bother because they won't work or won't work for long depending on their version.  Also, this type of reset can also occur as a result of a grounding issue.  It does not take long and does not hurt to go through the machine with a flashlight to make sure all the ground wires are tight against the cabinet.  Also check under the buttons area for any unused button harness that might be touching the cabinet.
