Title: Bally 5000plus Stars and Bars Post by: hawkypro on December 21, 2011, 01:12:45 AM First off I would like to say Hi to everyone and this is my first time posting on this site.
I picked up this Bally 5000+ in a warehouse purchase of pinball machines and of course the machine turns on (lights come on and the two LED's on the cpu come on and then go out, so its not in the reset state. Also the LED display is dead. I have the 5000 plus operator instruction manual but im looking for the Bally 5000 plus Training and Troubleshooting manual. If anyone could tell me where to get it - that would be great. I not sure where to start with this machine so any help would be great in starting to trouble shoot this machine. Thanks, Greg Title: Re: Bally 5000plus Stars and Bars Post by: CYRIL1973 on December 22, 2011, 06:50:50 AM Hi,
The green battery on the cPU is certainly dead, I would strart changing it and then do a ram clear. I hope it will help. Title: Re: Bally 5000plus Stars and Bars Post by: hawkypro on December 23, 2011, 12:36:32 AM Okay,
I checked the battery and it has 3.6V. Here is what is going on. when I turn the machine on I get the two lights on the mpu to flash on and turn off. the fluorescent lamps come on. The middle reel moves just slightly on power up. No display control board wont light up. hopper works when I push the buttons on the hopper board. I have not checked the power supply yet because I dont know what the correct voltages should be. That is where im at at the moment. Any help with power supply voltages would be helpful. Thanks Title: Re: Bally 5000plus Stars and Bars Post by: Hunt.n.dig on December 24, 2011, 10:14:02 PM Open up your lower door. Look for what is called "door distribution board" and you should see test points for your voltages. The slotdoctor.com has the manual for the plus machine.

Looks like my machine does not have a door distribution board like the in your picture. On the meter board i have a able/disable comparator switch and a coin switch. I did check the voltage's and im getting some ripple voltage of about 2v AC on one of the DC voltage rails. I might have a filtering issue on the power supply. Gonna have to take that out, check it and replace the capacitors. |
