The ribbon cable is loose.
Push it back in fully.
BUT...do it with the power off.

That's not the whole back of the VFD display is it?  :129-
I think you have the other VFD display for the multidenom thing...
There HAS  :214- to be wires or something plugged into it?
What is plugged into to it on the left- hand side of it?  :128-

Your photographs  :317- are too dark for me to see sir.  :280-
Do you have a camera flash or a room lamp  :299- to brighten up your mancave
a bit so we can see what you want to show us?  :127-  :209-

Staz
Make sure that you are not letting the Power or Netplex wires get pinched in the hinge.

I had to explain to someone that nothing can be placed in the hinge area.
they where having issues like you did, and could not figure why the door was harder to close.

See that red and black 2-pin connector wires going into the display.
That's the 2-wire harness for the main juice for that puppy.

When you wiggle it, watch the VFD  - it may go off and on.
If it does, you need to tape it tight against it's connector so it doesn't lose contact.
You must have gotten it the door hinge somehow as Foster is saying.

Well,
you know the old saying... "Don't Fix It If It Ain't Broke"

Actually, in this case, if you can wiggle the wires to get it to act up and it's NOT a plug connection causing the problem then it is broke and needs to be fixed whether it's working now or not. If he has a bad wire in the door harness the problem will recur and it could possibly damage a board if and when it cuts out if the machine is on at the time. It can be a pain in the butt, but it would be a good idea to find out exactly what caused the problem in the first place to make sure it can't happen again.

That's normal Staz.
Is your door open or closed when you are in the "Waiting For Netplex..." mode?

I mean, you can   close the door as soon as you turn on the power switch
but usually I leave the door open until the reels do their "Maiden Spin" -
I will get the "Door Open" message  ( which is good, tells me the machines' door optics are working right,
and I KNOW the MPU has completed it's "Boot Up" phase ),
then I close the door.

Your machine seems possessed or haunted!!! :260- :303- :118- >:D

Once it seems to be working fine I suggest that you lock the door and put the key someplace safe and hook it up to a power surge outlet strip and use that for your on and off. You could even do it like in the casinos and pull the cash can out through the belly door! :97-
