Title: I need some pictures
Post by: Neonkiss on December 31, 2011, 11:21:35 PM
They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Lets see if that's true.

I'm building my second S2000. The first one has the short reel glass. The second one has the long reel glass and was a Vision.
I don't want this machine to be a Vision so I removed the bracket for the display and pruned down the mass of wires in the top box to only what's necessary.
Since this machine has the long reel glass the printer is suppose to go in the top box on the left hand side. I have the bracket but the wire connectors at the back of the box appear to be preventing the bracket from being installed on the studs.

Can someone post some pictures of the top box, inside door and inside cabinet of an S2000 with a ticket printer in the top box.

Both of those brackets are only attached to the top of the main via ledge and a tongue and a single nut at the front.
Just let the bracket hang down, wire tie to something in that area.
Taking the bracket off might make it easier to wire tie the harnesses you do need near that area.
Netplex, candle and speakers is all you need from that side
Power for the Power Distribution board and Amplifier comes from right side (there is a power harness for the amp that uses the netplex port)

Tilt,

What kind of bulbs are those?

Those are LEDs. They plug right into the ballast supply plug. Pretty sweet, I use them as reel glass lights. About $35 each last time I bought them from AG&E I think it was

Yep, they're LED replacements for the F15 tubes.  I bought a bunch of them a year or two ago from MCM Electronics.  They were cheaper then, and I had a 25% off order coupon + free shipping.  I think I got them for about 1/2 of what they're selling them for today.  They are nice.  They use less power, run cooler, and really brighten up the colors on the machine.  Too bad they're so expensive now though.

Here's a link to the ones I got from MCM.

THANK YOU,
Tilt and Foster....  :244- :3-

I now see that the base is different from the Vision to the regular machine. The cut-out and tong is farther from the side to allow enough room for the ticket bracket. Now I'm wondering if it's easier to do as Foster mentioned and let the harness hang low or maybe even modify the lower cab to locate the connections farther away from that side wall, or modify the door for the short reel glass and install a new door harness?

Has anyone done a conversion from a Vision to a non-vision machine and what method and or other hurdles did you come across?
I'll start by pulling the top box and see about permanently relocating the wire harness bracket two more inches away.

Again thanks for the photos and input,
Happy New Year to all

Mine is a non-vision and I still had to remove the nut that held the wiring bracket so it could hang low. I secured it with a wire tie to keep it off the reels.

My topbox is also a Vision top box.
I just remove stuff or add stuff depending on what kit I feel like playing.
It's good to have a round top, a flat top, a 15" and a 31" round topbox's.
If you have those plus extra reel trays - you can put together just about every S2000 kit there is!  :71-

I've noticed though, when I install the topbox ticket printer, the bottom
of the printer like to hit the top of the Molex's coming out of the rear mounted junction box on the topbox floor.
The only solution I've found was the loosen the single screw that holds the junction box plate and let it hang low under the topbox to clear the printer.
Is this how they set up those printers in casinos? - Let the bracket hang like that?
Or push the Molex down through?  :103-
That seems like kind of a  half assed set-up doesn't it?

Again, Thanks for the in-put.
After some consideration I opted for the re-locate of the harness bracket to the right.
Converting to the short reel glass also meant a new reel shelf, along with the new door harness. Plus as I said I already have another S2000 with the short glass.

It was much easier than I thought. I did the lay out as to where the bracket need to be after I removed the top. Made the cutout and re-bent the back tab to form a new tong and ledge. Installed a countersunk bolt to hold the front.
I'm very happy with the results and don't know why IGT didn't have this cut out already. Everything else in the machines have the studs already installed to configure the machines for what ever style is needed.

I added some pictures so you can see the results. I hope I don't discover something else as I venture down this road.
Also this machine will become a 3CM Mummy at first.

That's an excellent mod Tilt!  :3-
The junction box completely clears the printer plate!  :89-
That's what IGT should have done to that area.   :30-

Watch what happens to the left speaker wire
and the bolts for that stupid air vent in the corner.
My air vent studs were way too long and couldn't clear the printer.
Yours appears more flush to the left wall than mine.
