Title: Triple Cherries Bill Validator
Post by: lindam1 on January 02, 2012, 04:53:52 PM
I have a 1995 Triple Cherries and would like to repair/replace the BV. Nothing I've seen here looks like mine. See pic of location on the machine and side view.
I hope someone can identify this old beast. I don't think it's an ultra as the BV is located bottom glass left.
Thanks Lindsay   :103-

it is not an ultra.  I am sure uniman will step in soon with the identity but I know they are not so much a model as identified by the board number.  I am guessing yours is a 8800-A2MK board.

I have no experience with bill validators from older Uni's like yours. Your machine has the 8800 board.
But, I do have a little documentation for that validator. It sure looks like a M-IVO from Coin Bill Validator Inc. They have a logo that looks like CVB with the "V" going thru the C and B.

On your 8800 board you need to look at DIP SW2 that has four switches. If switches 1,2,3 are all OFF the 8800 board will ignore the BV.
Can't tell what denom your machine is? Guessing quarters. For quarters set switch #1 and #2 ON.
Now here it gets interesting. Switch #4 is OFF for MARS validator type and ON for JCM validator type. But yours looks like CVB so I'm guessing MARS type would be correct. So try it OFF.
After changing Dip switches a RAM clear must be performed.

Uniman,

The bv tries to take the bill, but the drive motor is so worn out that it just vibrates and also the track belts are missing teeth so even if the motor were to free up probably still wouldn't take the bill in. Is this model still in production if the the one you suspect it is? I noticed the Rudy's has the cash can fro my bv, but don't know if he's got a used bv. Just gonna send mail to find out.

I'm pretty sure CVB is out of business. Let me see if I have some of this documentation scanned. I scanned several Uni doc's years ago when I had a scanner.

Never seen one of these working!

Unless I've entered the Twilight Zone a couple of replies to this post have disappeared??
Myself and jbshocks replied to this post. What happened?  :103-

The machine has an 8800 board with a CBV validator.

Agreed.

I have merged the two topics together into the same thread in one category.  lindam1: please don't create separate topics in different categories for the same issue on the same machine as it will create confusion for the folks trying to help you out, and/or people offering "new" information or suggestions that have already been mentioned in the other thread.  Most of our members regularally check all of the new posts no matter which category they're under.  :89-
