Title: Game changes and payback percentage settings
Post by: Yoeddy1 on January 06, 2012, 12:31:09 AM
So when changing kits, instead of doing the full clear/key procedure as I always have in the past, I took Foster's suggestion and just swap out the SB chip, turn the key 4 times, and start playing the new game.  My question is this...

I always choose the highest payback percentages for all denoms.  When I switch out a game using the new and much faster method, will the new game be automatically set to the highest payback percentages or would a game change cause them to revert to a lower percentage?

Just curious how this works.

I change kits all the time only swapping the SB chip. All my kits are 3cm single line - therefore no need to do a Key. Unless you want change denom... To answer your question, your payback % won't change if you only swap SB chips.

Thanks Danny.  Since all SB's have different percentages, there must be a basic A-B-C-D switch in the software that holds with the SB change.  In other words A would be the highest percentage and D being the lowest so no matter what game is switched out, the payback percentage that was originally selected with the original Clear/Key procedure will remain the default.

I would assume an s2000 with single line 3cm would have the same numbers (9x.xx)  for choosing the payback %. Maybe someone with more experience will chime in :89-

We learn somethin new here every day it seems!

Question ?  Is this for single denomination or multi

I think your payback % on most SB chips is the same so there won't generally be a conflict, BUT(and that's a big butt) there are a few exceptions. On my Money Mad Martians game the max payback is like 96.4% so it would pose a problem. I suspect this is also true for other S2000 barcrest machines. The caveat here being that you guys are swapping standard S2000 games, SO(and not so what) I don't think you'll run into any of these exceptions :89-

The one pic that Jason had of all his kits were "standard"  from what I remember - triple stars, triple red hot 7's etc... Mine are "standard" as well like TD RWB, triple double moolah and so on.

P.S. I am only single denom. I believe Jason has multi -denom.

The few times I've done it, multi-denom didn't matter, settings stayed the same, but the max bet was the same in each case. I never tried switching 2 coin to 3 coin or vice versa

Yes, I was referring to multi-denom.

Which two SB's are you swapping Yoeddy?
I can try a see if I can check a SB PAR sheet to compare what percentages they store?
I wonder if they are the same or not?
I've never looked really.

I randomly switch out around 12 different games every so often.

Crystal Sevens
Triple Diamond Haywire
Double Diamond Deluxe
Triple Red Hot 7's
Triple Lucky 7's
Triple Stars
Triple Double Wild Cherry
Red White & Blue
Tabasco

Those are the 3CM games

Mummy and Munsters are my two 2CM games and those I would need to key and clear because of the difference in 2CM compared to 3 CM...I'm assuming.

I wouldn't bet on it Jason. It might still work simply because the paybacks are the same. Heck, give it a try, can't hurt anything

Jason,

There is one tried and true way to find out..... As Nike says:

Just do it!!! :97-

CH :95-

Worst case scenario you would have to use the evil clear chip and start over. I surmise that it should work fine as I have changed SB's and did the key flip and button presses and it worked fine. Not MD in my case, but highest %age.

FWIW: it's highly unlikely that your base chips have the same paytables on them if theres a different SB number on each; if they were the same then there wouldn't be a different SB# right? :200-  i just spot checked 5 random SB par sheets that i have on file and the percentages aren't exactly the same on any of them.  :89-
