Title: Sound problem with a Bally S6000
Post by: clown2948 on January 08, 2012, 09:29:09 PM
I have a bally S 6000 with a sound problelm. The sound will play only after I push the spin button once than will play only 4 more times. Than no reel music until I open and close the main door. Than the same thing happens over and over. I have installed a new sound board and changed the mpu board. Still the same thing. I have done a safe ram clear no change. Could the U 28 or U 43 be bad. Or is the U18 or U 20 bad. What does each chip do. This machine is a Bonus Frenzy 4 reel machine. Any help would be great.

I think it is a pro sound board part number As-03356-0362. It is just the reel music that stops playing. The coin and the reel stop still works.

I had one of those with a pro sound board. It was the sound chip.
I tried several until I got a good one to play all sounds.
I think I got it from Jim @ Blue Ridge Slots.

yep. chip on sound board. I don't remember # but it was for a bonus frenzy.
I tried a few chips until I got one that had the sounds

What is so funny is that it will play after I spin the reels one time than play four times than stop playing. Than I have to open the main door and all starts again. Than the same thing.

I haven't had that problem but
have you tried another mpu?

Sent an email to Jim at Blueridge slots. Am I to understand that the chips on the MPU board do not have any thing to do with the sound or the problem I am having.

Correct - but the mpu will tell the sound board to start playing

Hi yes another sound board also.

Since I can clear the U18 and U20 could the U28 or U 43 be bad on the MPU board. You have to remove them to clear the ram. TYPO

Exactly - from what I've read you have used
different sound boards. All with the same
results.  So the sound cards are ok.

The signal to start sound is not good.

U20 and u43 are on the mpu not sound card

In any case those personality chips would
Play a sound for every spin

Hi yes I know that. Just was wondering what one starts the sound. What do the U28 & U43 do.  TYPO earlier.

That I don't know - but if chips were bad
I don't think game would boot.

Trace the wires from the sound card
And check molex connections

Blueridge slot could not help. Any body else have a sound chip for Bonus frenzy 4 reel sound card.

Ok so

Wires are good
Sound card is good

I just did a quick check on eBay for an mpu

don't buy one there - check a vendor here

The only thing you cant change is U28 & U43. That is why I was wonderning if they could be bad. What do they do U20& U43.

Title: Re: Sound problem with a Bally S6000
Post by: jdkmunch on January 08, 2012, 10:51:40 PM
Ok so -

Sound card verified working
Wire harness working
Mpu verified working

Now I would verify checksums for each
Of the 4 chips on the MPU

They control the personality of the game

- bonus frenzy etc ..

Do you have an EEPROM reader

Post by: jdkmunch on January 08, 2012, 10:55:54 PM
I don't have with me the checksums of
Those two chips

But you need to verify of they are good

Let me ask you this .  Do you have another game
That you can put in this machine and see if it works?

U18 and 20 are the game personality

U28 and 43 are the mains

Are they 2003?

Sorry for the typing I'm on my iPhone

Yes, 2003 mains.

Title: Re: Sound problem with a Bally S6000
Post by: clown2948 on January 08, 2012, 11:13:08 PM
Is it the mains that start the sound. Or is it the U18 & U20.

Title: Re: Sound problem with a Bally S6000
Post by: jdkmunch on January 08, 2012, 11:13:40 PM
On any other board that has
2003 mains?  If so swap them

Title: Re: Sound problem with a Bally S6000
Post by: clown2948 on January 08, 2012, 11:21:50 PM
No other sets of 2003 mains. Just 2006 and 2008.  Also this machine did not play the sound when it hit respin ever but all else worked. Than the sound would come and go but now it only works as I stated.

Title: Re: Sound problem with a Bally S6000
Post by: jdkmunch on January 08, 2012, 11:23:22 PM
Try the 2008 mains

They should work

Title: Re: Sound problem with a Bally S6000
Post by: jdkmunch on January 08, 2012, 11:28:03 PM
I think the only issue with
Newer mains would be the printer

You can only print with the 2003 or eailer
Mains.

But that's secondary now

No printer in this machine just a hopper so I will try the new mains. Thanks all . Robert

Found the problem. I changed the mains but had the same problem. I than changed U18 and U20 had sound all the time. The only thing is there the wrong chips for the reels. I need Sims chip number 9042. Will go in classified to get them.
