Title: Meter Disconnect Error S2000
Post by: reho33 on January 09, 2012, 06:59:32 PM
I have read all the existing posts on the S2000 where the "Meter Disconnected" error came up. I have swapped MPU's, did full ram clear and re-key, cleaned connectors, etc. I cannot clear the error. The other thing is that the solenoid for the handle "unlocks" when the error comes up and I don't know why. I have inspected the harnesses for a short but don't see any short to ground or otherwise. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have a suggestion...loop the meters?
I've heard and read about someone doing a meter bypass to get rid of the "clicking" sounds meters make.
Of course the meters won't work while it's being bypassed but at least
you can try to momentarily see if that makes the error go away?

Yes I jumpered the meter cable. I have not swapped the door I/O but will try that next, thanks.

OK removed the door IO and also removed all individual components but as soon as the machine is powered up the solenoid is energized and the handle is loose. I even went into the IO tests and the meter tested bad and the handle switch tested bad. I jumpered the meter again and disconnected the wires from the handle but still won't work. The only clue that I have is that before this happened, it was heat related and when the machine was on for a few minutes, this error came up and happened.

Is there any kind of electrical burning smell associated with this? You might try swapping power supplies. I believe all your meter and handle wiring runs through the cabinet IO board, so check that also

Your heat related.  did it smell hot?
was it to close to heat?
did it feel hot?
explain.

I found out why, loose solder joints around the large multi-pin connector, the one that goes to the backplane. This would explain why the heat would make a failure. I need another one, anybody got a spare?
