Title: " Coin In Optic Fault " - Aristocrat MK6
Post by: Gav on January 11, 2012, 02:48:19 AM
Hi All,
I have been trying to clear a " Coin In Optic Fault " in a MK6 machine, was very intermittent, now permanent.

I have tried cleaning coin mech and played with wiring to no avail, also reset machine.

Coin mech has green led on.

Any ideas ?  Coin Mech faulty ?

Would anyone have an Aussie manual for the MK6 with XP main board ?

Thanks

Gav.

g'day. could be three things for coin-in optic error,,, flouro ballast, coin mech or driver board.. switch off the machine and disconnect the flouro ballasts (both if it has a casino top), do this from the power supply or where the power goes into the ballast,, switch on and coin test..

If your optics are clean and you have reseated the connection, good chance your coin mech will be no good. I assume it's a condor plus (or condor)?. Try reseating the two smaller connectors on the front right.

Last one, I have had the driver brd (the smaller brd under the processor/mother brd) cause this...  pwr off, reseat both boards and reboot.

Hi,
Re-Jacked boards, disconnected fluoro's, cleaned coin mech and still has a lit green led.

I thought I would try to reprogram the Condor Plus coin mech, put it into position 1, pressed the program button and still with green led, does not change to red or flash.

I have ordered a new Condor Plus to see if it fixes it, will let you know !

Thanks

Gav.

If the condor is disconnected you should be able to reset.sometimes get bad connections onto mother board just unplug and reconnect if you are using nsw programs

Tried to rejack driver I/O board, cleaned all optics and the one in the hopper.

Machine came good for about 1/2 hour, back to original fault.

Do you have NSW eproms and the game name.If you go into the menu under machine id it should give you the version.

NSW, Golden Pyramids, System21.

When I go into Audit menu " 3.1 Diagnostic Meters "

Coin Optic fault: 4266 and continues to count up while I'm watching.

Any Ideas ?

Disconect two leads on left top of power supply and disconnect condor. Then disconnect 3 large plugs on bottom of mother board if won't reset then you more then likely have faulty driver board or processor

3 large leads are on bottom left of mother board

Hi Shaun,
Thanks for the fast delivery, plugged new mech in and fault still exists, with the optic fault counter still rising in diagnostics menu 3.1.

Much appreciated, I will keep poking around.

Update:

In fault mode:

RE-jacked main pcb, driver pcb's and all connectors on p/s & backplane, then turn on power.

Fault still there:

Main board has 2 red led's, left- solid red led , right - flashing red led.

Driver pcb has 3 leds, left - solid green led, middle led - solid red led, right - solid red led.

Update:

The optic fault has stopped counting up constantly now up to 5786 times.

Now have to find the culprit.

Have to check wiring diagrams and optics info.

i may have written wrong but leave all those cables disconnected and turn on, reset fault and see if it goes. machine will run without those cables plugged in but that will detremin if the fault is coming from one of those sections. If fault still exists then you have iether a main board or driver board problem. I have had the pic chip on the driver board cause this. Are you in Australia or overseas.

Hi All,
Here we are again, the machine ran for the past 5hrs with no fault.

Now it has gone into " Coin in Optic" fault again.

This is what I have done so far:

1) Went into diagnostics menu 3.1 -  Displays "coin in optic faults: 5456 and counting.
2) While this fault is incrementing I disconnected cables 1 by 1.
3) Now I have unplugged on Australian MK6 backplane

P10 - Button loom 1
P11 - Button loom 2
P12 - Coin handling , speaker and opto loom
2 connectors on P/S for the fluoro ballasts
Pulled out the hopper
Disconnected the Condor coin mech
Unplugged coin diverter optic loom
Unplugged Bank note reader

And is still is counting up on the Fault menu !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now up to: 5800 coin optic faults and rising !

Next I will change the whole machine and it might fix it !!

HaHa..

Driver Board - LEFT led ON, MIDDLE led  ON, RIGHT led ON

And still counting !! Now 6014

Mmm :103- , I think you have not tried this as I have fixed a fault like this.
Pull out the hopper, turn on the machine and see if you can clear the fault with the reset key.
The hopper board pcb my be your culprit and will need to be replaced.
Let me know how you go.
Cheers. :88-

Hi mate, have you solved the problem yet?
I might have an idea about this. Try to replaced the main logic board.
Let me know if this works.

Yea agree, But try comms cofig board, If not then there are a set of opto couplers just next to the comms config socket. The one for the coin mech might be bad as this happens quote a bit for printer comms faults. But quickly just swap the main board and see if it solves the issue.
