Title: SIGMA BATTERY? DOUBLE JACKPOT 1992 MODEL? HELP!!! Post by: darticus on January 11, 2012, 11:19:11 AM I can't even find the model of this slot. I know its a 1992 double jackpot and I can't find the battery. Is there a battery? Can anyone get me going on getting this to run again? How can I get a manual if I can't find the model? I'm a dummy! Do they have a book fixin slots for Dummies? Thanks Ron
Title: Re: SIGMA BATTERY? DOUBLE JACKPOT 1992 MODEL? HELP!!! Post by: Jim on January 11, 2012, 02:32:35 PM usually the I.D. plate is located on the side of the machine where the handle is located. Sigma only made a few models before they closed their doors. I am familiar with the the SG-50 model . this was a full size machine. the SG-32 was the same machine but physically smaller.
Anything beyond that I have never seen or worked on. Sigma used a different style of keeping backup memory. they used a certain type of capacitor with an extremely slow rate of discharge. Never did do any research on this , just replaced them as required. Pictures always tell the story. Jim Title: Re: SIGMA BATTERY? DOUBLE JACKPOT 1992 MODEL? HELP!!! Post by: darticus on January 11, 2012, 05:17:46 PM Thanks for getting back.
I took some pics of the machine and see a flat circular disc shaped object on the board that may be the memory backup. It says 5.5 volts on it I think. I have to take a better look when I get back to my store. Any chance you can check out my pics and advise me on how to get started to get this working again. Maybe I should replace the battery first but where would I get one? I didn't see an ID plate with info on the the handle side but will take a better look when I get back. I guess this ID plate would be inside the machine on the handle wall. Thanks again Ron Title: Re: SIGMA BATTERY? DOUBLE JACKPOT 1992 MODEL? HELP!!! Post by: Jim on January 11, 2012, 08:08:59 PM what happens when you apply power and turn it on?
pictures of the inside would help, type of bill acceptor, power supply module (located behind the hopper). Title: Re: SIGMA BATTERY? DOUBLE JACKPOT 1992 MODEL? HELP!!! Post by: darticus on January 11, 2012, 08:37:56 PM Thanks for getting back again. This site would only allow me to post two pics. I'll try to post more here. The battery or what I think is the battery says 5.5v .33F 291 M CG JAPAN. Ron

Post by: darticus on January 11, 2012, 09:44:21 PM When I first turned it on after a year it came up with "ram wrong" I hit test and than it started to run some tests, displayed on the front, than stopped. It was placing messages on the front like insert bill or coin, tilt, etc. randomly changing the display. It was making sounds when messages came up. Than it got quieter and less messages. There was some clicking at the coin unit but wouldn't take a coin or bill. It lights up just fine. Reels jerked occasionally about 1/4 inch. Coin mech has its red light on. Still puts tilt up and makes some sound. Do you know the model? Thinking about reseating and cleaning removable chips on board, checking battery for voltage and putting back together. Any thoughts? Thanks Ron
Title: Re: SIGMA BATTERY? DOUBLE JACKPOT 1992 MODEL? HELP!!! Post by: Jim on January 12, 2012, 12:56:24 AM Its probably a SG-50 model. when the machine has been off for that long of a time and rams wrong comes up, usually turning the reset switch on the side of the machine will put it back in motion.
if you turn it on again and you can reset it and it will play for awhile then quits, the 5volt power supply voltage is dropping down to 4.7vdc. I have only replaced one "battery" and about 10 power supplies. I am going out on a limb and say I think you power supply is bad. Jim Title: Re: SIGMA BATTERY? DOUBLE JACKPOT 1992 MODEL? HELP!!! How about a reset? There are three locks on the side Are these the reset locks? I don't have the keys. Do you have keys available? These are the round barrel keys. Can I jumper the wires on these locks , there are two wires per lock, to reset the game? Do you know if a reset is done with one lock or two at one time? What is the best way to check the power supply? Do you have a power supply to sell if mine is bad? I hope its not that the hopper only has 10 coins in it. Thanks for your help! Ron Title: Re: SIGMA BATTERY? DOUBLE JACKPOT 1992 MODEL? HELP!!! Post by: Jim on January 12, 2012, 03:52:46 PM to determine which machine you have SG-50 21 1/4 wide, SG-32 18 3/4 wide.
I do not have keys available, or power supplies. you can jumper across them if you want, or replace with a open momentary push button switch. the two switches below the bill acceptor, one is for getting into the test mode, the other is a reset.(bottom one) same as using the key switch. the white switch, left hand side lower front, the plunger can be pulled out, that would tell the machine that the front door is closed,(even though its not) then you could try the reset. its close quarters to check the voltages at the power supply itself, I usually test them at CN-1, its the big plug on the right side rear of board. first two wires are red(+5vdc) next is green (ground). or at the power distribution board on the door, most of the functions are written on the board. with the board installed you could let it pivot down so you can get to the plug. I would try a rest first and see if you could play the game, then if it craps out as time goes by, you could measure the voltage and confirm the level. Title: Re: SIGMA BATTERY? DOUBLE JACKPOT 1992 MODEL? HELP!!! Post by: darticus on January 12, 2012, 06:05:40 PM Things are looking real good.
I pressed, not cleaned, all removable chips on the board down. I put about 50 dollars in quarters in the hopper as it only had 10 coins in it. Put in the board and connected all plugs. IT WORKS! Can't believe it started up and is running great. Had some trouble with the comparator and how it worked but now thats good. Found how to get into the menu to turn the Bill Validator on and its working fine. I do have one question. When I put in say 5 quarters it doesn't allow me to just bet 1 of the 5. It bets all 5. When I put in a bill it lets me pick how many coins I want to bet. What in the menu would allow me to turn on the multiple coins so I can bet only one of the 5 at a time when I put in coins. Maybe this is how it works??? Hey you have been great!!! Do you have a manual for sale for my game its the SG-32 after measuring. Thanks Again Ron Title: Re: SIGMA BATTERY? DOUBLE JACKPOT 1992 MODEL? HELP!!! Post by: darticus on February 04, 2012, 03:27:36 PM Wondered if SOMEONECAN HELP OR new what this problem is or how to reset it. The slot when asked to pay out only 8 coins sounded it alarm and has HPR TIMEOUT on its display. Can you help me to get out of this? The two buttoms inside not helping. Thanks Ron
Title: Re: SIGMA BATTERY? DOUBLE JACKPOT 1992 MODEL? HELP!!! Post by: Jim on February 06, 2012, 07:16:38 PM your machine is an 8 coin multiplier, each time you insert a coin, it will register that coin and set up to play that game, for each additional coin inserted the next multiplier is active up to eight coins.
you can't put in coins trying to build up credits. I believe you can put in maybe two extra coins( after the eight) before it will tilt. if you get into the test menu then go to the menu and do the hopper test. you will have to figure out how to use the reset key switch(since you don't have keys) to turn this test on. this will turn on the hopper, count ten coins and stop. if the hopper does this then the hopper is operating correctly. to get into the test menu: open door, press test button 2x, lever/start on display, continue pressing start until you get to the message rst/hopper, each time you turn reset key on/off the test will be run.
