Title: Burned Out UV Eprom Eraser Lamp Post by: stayouttadabunker on January 12, 2012, 06:00:51 PM I was transporting my UV eprom eraser home and turned it on - no lights. :129-
So I removed the top cover and looked inside...the lamp is burned out! :8- :37- It's held in place by a couple of clips mounted to the floor of the box. Four wires coming from the circuit board are soldered to the bulbs contact pins. That's not a problem to un-solder and re-solder the wires when I get a replacement lamp. But upon closer inspection :209- of the lamp bulb itself - there are NO markings on it at all! :7- What in the world should I try to get as a replacement lamp/bulb? :128- The lamp is 5-3/8" long and roughly 9/16" in diameter. I'm going to pick up a G15T5 Germicidal lamp ASAP! No Fordsbs! I'm NOT going to China for this! :97- Title: Re: Burned Out UV Eprom Eraser Lamp Post by: SLOTMAN on January 12, 2012, 06:21:59 PM As I am going off of memory you may want to double check the PDF I attached. It may be a F7 or F8

I almost agree with you Poppo! I can't remember what I paid for this thing. I've used it quite a bit...but 6,000 hrs? I shouldn't be banging it around... :72- I did some digging around. The body of this UV lamp I have is: 135mm in length and 15mm in diameter. That seems to match the dimensions on the chart to the website you led me to. I think I would need the first on on top...the G4T5VH lamp or the G4T5L lamp? Here's the link to that page...>>> http://www.uvlamp-cn.com/wateruvlamp/b/2.htm (http://www.uvlamp-cn.com/wateruvlamp/b/2.htm) Click on chart below to super-size!...>>> Title: Re: Burned Out UV Eprom Eraser Lamp Post by: stayouttadabunker on January 12, 2012, 07:50:47 PM Gave up looking for a .9watt lamp to fit this thing.
All I see are the longer and 4 watts lamps. So I bought a new eprom eraser... It has little bit of Chinese writing on it... :72- Total cost: $17.24 Title: Re: Burned Out UV Eprom Eraser Lamp Post by: FORDSBS on January 12, 2012, 08:37:14 PM I told you to go to China

We are buying so many products from Chine I would wait until the Bridge is finished in a couple of months and you can drive there.. Unless you live in New York City, you can take a Cab. Good luck on the Bulb. R. Title: Re: Burned Out UV Eprom Eraser Lamp Post by: poppo on January 12, 2012, 11:39:10 PM OK lets bet how many hours bunkers Chineeeeezzz eraser works before mass failure As much as I hate to say it, a lot of the electronics stuff coming out of China works pretty good. I would rather buy USA, but I'm not going to pay 4x as much (and the components probably still came from China). Title: Re: Burned Out UV Eprom Eraser Lamp Post by: stayouttadabunker on January 13, 2012, 12:03:02 AM OK lets bet how many hours bunkers Chineeeeezzz eraser works before mass failure :72- haha! I've had mine for about 3-4 years now I believe. Do I use it a lot? YEAH! I'm ALWAYS constantly erasing eproms and fooling around with them! But I do think now, when looking back at it, did NOT use up it's life of roughly 6,000 hrs. I pulled the 3 screws off of the small transformer board in it. Guess what I found under the board? An NM27C512 stuck under it. I'll betcha the eprom shorted out the board somehow and sent way more than 24 volts to the lamp!!! Hey! :299- I have one of those currency checkers with the small blue lamp that's exactly the same length as this G4T5 bulb. I wonder if it will work in a pinch? :79- BE RIGHT BACK! ZOOOM!>>>> ( Bunker runs to go find it in the garage somewhere! >>> :301- :273- ) Okay, I've placed the chip under a ...get this name...lol...>>> a "$CAN = PLU$" money detector. LOL! I think it was for checking Canadian bills at the store we had back in the 90's. Anyways, I put the chip on top of a Christmas wrapping Scotch tape plastic dispenser thing so the UV "eye" is about an inch away from the purple light. I wonder how long it has to stay there to get erased? Title: Re: Burned Out UV Eprom Eraser Lamp Post by: poppo on January 13, 2012, 12:28:49 AM I would say 15 minutes should do it if it's going to work.
Title: Re: Burned Out UV Eprom Eraser Lamp Post by: stayouttadabunker on January 13, 2012, 12:57:27 AM Nope...15 minutes and the checksum is still the same. (note to self: 9400)
I'll leave it for another 45 minutes and see if the checksum changes at all... Title: Re: Burned Out UV Eprom Eraser Lamp Post by: poppo on January 13, 2012, 01:19:05 AM Might have better luck just leaving it out in the sun. :72-

Title: Re: Burned Out UV Eprom Eraser Lamp Post by: poppo on January 13, 2012, 01:32:59 AM I think it takes like 2 weeks in daylight to erase an eprom. Which is still faster than the boat from China. :96- Title: Re: Burned Out UV Eprom Eraser Lamp Post by: stayouttadabunker on January 13, 2012, 01:34:49 AM :299- You know what?
I'm going to try it! :89- Has anybody ever tried it here before? :129- I'm not in no big hurry on this one...lol Title: Re: Burned Out UV Eprom Eraser Lamp Post by: PWRSTROKE on January 13, 2012, 01:44:55 AM This has been tried,And works quite well in full bright sunlight depending on where your at--------Magnafieng glass at full itensity aprox 3ft away for aprox 4 minutes in a CLEAN window. I do not do this or condone it--But if done properly it works. I have a fine spectrum eraser that works well. Just a thought I wanted to share--B.

Seems like I remember Op-Bell saying it takes a year in direct sunlite. |
