Unshopped are the way they come from casino. Shopped are gone over & ready to play. Title: Re: What is "Shopped Out" vs. not shopped out? Post by: dale on January 19, 2012, 11:12:27 PM What needs to be done from Casino to "ready to play"? Thanks
Title: Re: What is "Shopped Out" vs. not shopped out? Post by: FORDSBS on January 19, 2012, 11:18:59 PM Unshopped might not work. You have to clean, all parts might not work. You take a chance
if the mpu etc. are good. If you want to learn about a machine get unshopped. If you don't know anything about machines make your first machine one that is shopped. Title: Re: What is "Shopped Out" vs. not shopped out? Post by: FORDSBS on January 19, 2012, 11:21:22 PM I see you've been a member for some time. Save money & get unshopped.
You know you'll get help on NLG. Half the fun is working on a game Title: Re: What is "Shopped Out" vs. not shopped out? Post by: dale on January 19, 2012, 11:32:04 PM I'm pretty sure I can do it and I have had a great deal of help from members here and am light years ahead of what I was 3 years ago....Thanks!
Title: Re: What is "Shopped Out" vs. not shopped out? Post by: Neonkiss on January 20, 2012, 10:44:05 AM I spend about 20 hours shopping out a machine.
Everything is removed except the wire harness. Plastics get removed and de-rivited from circuit boards, metal plates ect, Anything that is partial board is removed. The machine then gets scrubbed down and the nicotine is removed inside and out. Loose plastic laminat is re-bonded with contact cement. Chrome is polished, bad parts are replaced and the machine is re-assembled to be configured as the customer request (nickel or quarter - what glass kit, ect) New decals are re-printed and installed. Ya, about 20 hours or one per week. Of course I do have OCD so everything is right when it leaves my place. Here is what some un-shopped machine look like. These have had a catastrophic battery failure from sitting. That battery has now destroyed the MPU and the Motherboard. Title: Re: What is "Shopped Out" vs. not shopped out? Title: Re: What is "Shopped Out" vs. not shopped out? Post by: FORDSBS on January 20, 2012, 11:00:15 AM Neonkiss, if you are like me you enjoy every minute you put into it.
You have the satisfaction of knowing YOU took it from junk to a nice game. Ford Title: Re: What is "Shopped Out" vs. not shopped out? Post by: dale on January 20, 2012, 11:56:47 AM That is quite the transformation...very nice. Luckily I get to look at them and maybe get one where my OCD doesn't need grenades to finish it off!

Title: Re: What is "Shopped Out" vs. not shopped out? Post by: Yoeddy1 on January 20, 2012, 09:28:22 PM Many of us here are of the OCD club, and if you feel like you would fit in, just ask to join the club...we have jackets. Hours of cleaning, painting, polishing, etc, is the bulk of the fun.
Part of the thrill of buying kits for me is watching the nicotine and dirt run off of the strips and glass. The finished product is fun to see, but I get a bit bummed out once it's done because, I don't need to clean it anymore other than finger prints. Cheers! Post by: Buzz on January 20, 2012, 10:20:39 PM Well all I can say, if one of you OCD people get real bored your welcome drop by and clean my machines because no way in Hell am I going to spend 20 hours cleaning a machine. My sales motto "Sell cheap, half ASS dirty, take it or leave it"
Title: Re: What is "Shopped Out" vs. not shopped out? Post by: IFFV68 on January 20, 2012, 10:56:05 PM You do really nice work, good job.
Like Jason mentioned, the fun is in the cleaning & making everything shine like a DIAMOND IN A GOAT"S ASS. I never get finger prints on any of my machines when doing game change, cleaning glass, cleaning strips, or changing chips. I always use those blue plastic gloves. I hate it when guests leave their finger prints on my glass, chrome, & cabinet. I don't think I have O.C.D. too much. I just like my stuff to look as nice as I can. Maybe I do have something like that? Welcome to the club. R. Title: Re: What is "Shopped Out" vs. not shopped out? Post by: stayouttadabunker on January 20, 2012, 11:03:28 PM I like to lean back and play with socks on my feet or auto-play... :72-
Title: Re: What is "Shopped Out" vs. not shopped out? Post by: Neonkiss on January 21, 2012, 04:29:06 PM Well all I can say, if one of you OCD people get real bored your welcome drop by and clean my machines because no way in Hell am I going to spend 20 hours cleaning a machine. My sales motto "Sell cheap, half ASS dirty, take it or leave it" Buzz, I couldn't agree with you more. It all has to do with the condition of the machines you get. It appears that that condition is directly related to what location you reside in. Down in my neck of the woods, these machines have seen 8 years in a Vegas casino and another 10 on a cruse ship and 2 more in storage. Therefore I get handed a bag of tricks that requires lots of elbow grease and lipstick for the pig. :123- I know you have that big truck of yours and if you ever want to spend time at the beach checking out the girls, :141- give me a call. You can load up that truck with those nice machines and I'll help pay for your vacation. :92- Title: Re: What is "Shopped Out" vs. not shopped out?
