Title: THANKS TO NLG
Post by: FORDSBS on January 23, 2012, 05:03:56 PM
Over the weekend I got to thinking what I knew about slots 2 years ago when
I first got on NLG. I have a lot to learn but I learned a lot.
There is no way to thank the guys on here enough for what I picked their brains
for over the last 2 years.
All I can say is  :wa :293- :285- :285- :285- :285-

K+ to you, Ford.  I've learned everything I know about repairing these beasts from the great members here.  Thanks to Joey for creating the forum, and to all of the great people on here!

My excuse for forgetting is old age. Your a young whipper snapper, what's your excuse?

Speaking of needing help and a cold beer, has anyone heard of a Rotomat Astor ? I believe that it is a German fruit type machine. The seller said that it doesn't work but could be fixed by a local guy for $ 150. How about a Columbia slot machine ? The on line pictures show that it has a carousel like carrier on top for the coins. It has a mechanical mechanism like the antique slots. Value ? Difficulty for repair and parts ? Thanks,

Frank

Googling around...seems like a bunch of German collectors know something about them.
Info says they were made in the 70's.
Where's the handle?  :96-

This looks like a neat link to some really cool pictures of these old puppies...>>>

Value here in USA ? Also the neighbor has a Groetchen Columbia slot machine. Is $ 450 for both a good price ?

The auctioneer's websites have those going for rather huge prices.
It's all over the map...some as low as $250 to upwards of Howard  :56- :148- Hughes prices.
I have not seen ANY information on these  :60-
You'd have to ask around to see if anyone knows anything about them.
Time is the key - maybe OpBell might know someone, who might know someone?
Or someone that has worked with them Googling around may see this thread and chime in...

First of all, most of these German machines run on 220vac...I have a "Roto-mat"...Similiar, but mine has three buttons that act like a skill stop machine...They are usually EM machines...Do you have any photo's of the inside?  :211-

It is an exact match for the 2 pictures shown above here. I picked it up this afternoon. It lights up with the power pack that was included. I have not touched it yet, but tomorrow beckons. I also picked up a 1936 Groetchen 5 cent Columbia slot that needs restoration. It looks to be complete, but dirty and not working. Again tomorrow is examination day. I will post before pictures tomorrow. Both for $ 400.
