Title: Wings need new feathers
Post by: cowboygames on January 25, 2012, 03:59:42 AM
I picked up a set of chrome wings for a project game that can't be named. I'd like to change them over to gold or find a gold replacement set. Any ideas on how to get this done? I'd prefer, of course to just swap them for gold and be done with it, but barring that, does anyone know a good plating service? Thanks in advance for any and all help :89-

Are the wings metal , diecast or plastic   metal ( Steel ) could be plated . die cast much harder to find some one to do but could be done.  plastic ? do not know . there are some very shiny gold spray paints out there today i would try one of those  you could always take the paint off with lacquer thinner if you did not like it . It can get you by until something better comes along .  AND IT ALWAYS DOES   PS It will cost nothing for a quote on the plating if you do not ask you will never know

I've tried the various paints and they are shiny, but not a mirror finish. They are electroplated plastic, same as car parts. Not a big deal, like I said, it's a project in the works, no worries no hurries. I still have lots more stuff to find yet

That's funny because I was just watching some show called Rick's Restorations?
I think that's the name of it..
He has a bunch of guys that sand-blast, paint , do all kinds of restorations and in the beginning of the show - you see someone rip off a bedsheet from an old beautiful Watlin!

Guys that do body work / custom paint jobs on cars might be able to help you?

Dang Bunker, I just finished watching 2 new episodes of that show! I'm not sure that any kind of paint will get a mirror finish though. I might call him to see if he could get me fixed up.
