Title: How to identify molex style connector
Post by: slot monkey on January 29, 2012, 02:21:09 AM
I'm trying to find the mate to the connector in the pics below.

The one in the pics is described as : 1 x 6 pin female header plugs with .01" pin spacing

thanks

I realize it is 1 row of 6 connections.

Is the .01 the diameter of the pin or pin size?

Is it correct to call this a molex connector?

.01" is the pitch spacing center-to-center of the pins.

That a Molex SL Series w/ a latch...check mouser.com and do a reverse check...>>>

Thanks Bunker

I spent a few hours looking at different sites and couldn't find what I was looking for.

Trying to fill my very empty jar of electronics knowledge.

The 2 in the 1st post are Molex SL series, NOT Minifit jr.
The Connector in the second to last post is a Molex MX series.
It actiualy is a gender bender, as they call it, because it has the Female Molex SL connector on one side and the Male Molex MX series connector on the other side.

@ Forrhouse - Thanks for the information.

I'm a newbie to all the connection information.

I found a link that explains some of the basics:

http://www.pinrepair.com/connect/ (http://www.pinrepair.com/connect/)

I think the site owner may be a member here too.

Thanks Forrhouse...I adjusted the name in my post.
There's so many kinds of Molex's the names get confusing sometimes.
I just know what to look for and get 'em.
I never remember the names all the time.

Go to Molex's web site.  Find the part you are looking for and then put that part number into mousers search.

Would love to put together a list with pictures and part numbers for the connectors and matching pins. List them by each machine...
I figure each machine probable has about 25 different connectors. Once documented, many of those will also be used in other machines.

Maybe someone could take on the Bally stuff and another member with WMS knowledge could help out, ect...

Older Bally EM and E-series used the Molex .093 style plugs. Newer Bally used the smaller .062 connectors.

@neonkiss

Great idea, that would be a good side project!

@forrhouse

I went to the molex site last sunday and it was offline, probably for updates.

I will try again this evening.
