Title: Do you know this game?
Post by: videoporker on January 21, 2009, 05:21:23 PM
It's a bonus flush game where if you got a flush for the next 7 hands cards of that same suit would give you the bonus.
I think it was a Williams game originally.

That game is called Bonus Flush Poker.  It is one of the games in the Multi-Play sets for the WMS 550.  I attached a pic of the screen shot.

That's it.
Anybody ever see this game software or M.A.M.E. that will play on the PC?

I don't think any of the WMS stuff is in MAME -- at least not that I've seen.

I have never seen any of the 550 VP games before (I think IGT dominated video poker even more so back then) so thanks for that screenshot.  I'm curious about the flush fever mode -- what was the deal with that.  Is it like Shockwave where you get a bonus for, in this case, a second flush within seven hands?  What was the bonus payback?

Also, Pokernut, do you have any other screenshots from the different video poker games on there?  It'd be neat to post them here so they don't get lost forever as the platform gets more and more obsolete...

The fever mode gives you the bet amount back for every card in that suit for 7 hands. Say you hit a club flush, the next seven hands every club you hold gives you back the original bet amount. Plus if you hit another club flush within that seven, you get the bonus plus an additional seven bonus hands. The credits can really add up. Of course, usually when I play I miss a lot of flushes. Still a very fun game.

The Oregon lottery has the same game on their game machines (some of them are made by IGT) but the game is called flush fortune or flush fever depending on the manufacturer. They're a ripoff though because they limit the ROYAL FLUSH to $600 for a six coin $1.50 bet. They only pay $100 per coin bet and if you bet max (8 coin $2.00) the ROYAL FLUSH payout doesn't go any higherthan the 6 coin bet!!!!

I would love to be able to play this game at home.

Thanks and K+ for the great explanation -- it sounds like a fun game.

This game makes me want to get a Wms550. I'd love to play it. Has anyone seen this game in the wild in LV recently?

Never have seen it in Vegas.

The Oregon lottery has 5 different machines from different manufacturers that have the game.
Flush Bonus Poker (Spielo)
Flush Fever (Game King)
Flush Fever (Trimline)
Flush Fortune Poker (Bluebird)
Flush Frenzy (Bally)

I would think these games would be available in other areas.

The machines you pictured are Video Lottery Terminals (or VLTs) -- while they have "poker" games on them, they're not really fair poker games as the games are essentially a video version of pull-tabs or scratch-off tickets.  When you place your bet you draw a ticket out of the virtual drum and then the result of that ticket is displayed on the screen in the form of a winning or losing poker hand.  On those type of machines, if you throw away a winning hand you'll get it back on the re-draw. EDIT: This turned out to be incorrect for Oregon -- see this post (http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=1684.msg16318#msg16318) for details.

Perhaps it's never been developed for Class III jurisdictions like Las Vegas?

Edited to add: I wonder if that multi-game set that Pokernut posted about is certified for Class III use?

Heres a screen shot of all the games for the 550 Multi Game - Set 1.  Cant really tell you too much about any of the games.  After I installed the multi-game set, and showed the wife, it suddenly became HER MACHINE.

Very interesting, no wonder they don't pay worth a damn.
Next time I play I'll test out your information by throwing out a high pair and see if a high pair comes back on the draw. If it does I'll try it with a higher hand too.

I'll still continue to hold royal flush and 4 to the royal thank you.

I don't blame you on that!  :)

Spielo doesn't make Class III slots, so if you're playing poker on a Spielo machine, it is not a fair game -- just a representation of a poker game.  You're nearly certain to get your high pair back if you toss it.  That really is the ultimate test.

Supposedly if you throw away a card that can't be replaced to make your hand the same or better (think a dealt straight flush and you toss one of the middle cards), that a "genie" appears on the screen and changes your replacement card back to the original card so you get the payout that belongs to you.

Tried that theory today and it doesn't work that way. Every 2 pair I was dealt and didn't hold I got nothing on the draw.
Tried it with a few 3 of a kind and other hands too with the same result.
Tried it on all models including Spielo.

It is interesteing to note that even though I was throwing away winning hands I didn't do any worse than usual.
I think the only way to win at their games is not to play them.

Interesting results -- sorry that I helped to contribute to you throwing away winning hands!

I did some digging and found out some interesting stuff about your state, as well as why the Royal Flush is capped at $600 even though the machine will let you keep betting:

Quote
Oregon law permits bars and taverns to have up to six video lottery terminals that offer various versions of video poker. Racetracks are allowed to have no more than 10 machines. The maximum bet allowed is $2 and the maximum payout on any machine is capped at $600.

These machines are the same as regular video gaming devices but are called lottery terminals because they are regulated by the state’s lottery commission which receives a share of each machine’s revenue. The machines accept cash but do not pay out in cash; instead, they print out a receipt which must be taken to a cashier.

So... you're not dealing with the same type of machine that I was describing (which is found in other states), and that explains why you weren't getting your hand back when you threw it away.

Don't worry about throwing away winning hands, I didn't really notice a difference in payback. It's always BAD. The lottery machines have to be the coldest machines on earth. The lottery website says the payback is around 95% but I think that's a misprint and should be 9.5%.

I appreciate the insight into VTLs and Oregon's machines.

The flush game is still fun for $00.25 a hand until I can find a home version like the fabulous PE+ M.A.M.E. stuff.

Actually, Spielo does make class III games, they're just spread a little thin...

I stand corrected -- this does appear to be new, though, as one part of their website (http://www.gtech.com/products_services/gaming_solutions/spielo.asp?persist=6F57E527C0B642BB9971C0AD74E0F1CD) says that Spielo is just into VLTs.
