Title: my bet one credit button wont light up??????
Post by: staz on February 16, 2012, 03:19:03 AM
ok well it started by having it light up at times then not lighting up going back and forth........ i checked the wires they look connected....... i swapped bulbs with my change button to test and see if its the bulb......it ant the bulb so now i cant think of what it could be? could it be the piece that the bulb goes in and the wires connect to???????? does anyone have an extra one of those for sale?

thanks
staz

Staz, if the bulb is good and it operates intermittantly in the socket you can try taking something pointy and use it to scrape the contacts clean inside the bulb socket. They seem to get corroded sometimes and start losing connection. You might try swapping that socket with the one on the service button also to confirm that as the problem

what else could it be if it ant the socket? could it be the wires? it looks like i have an extra set of button wires in that nest of wires...... could i try using them instead of the ones already on the socket??

It's not likely the wiring, but using the other set of wires may not prove out the problem either because each button light is seperately controlled depending on the individual buttons function. I'll be damned if I can remember what the hole between the spin and bet one credit buttons is for :103-

Seem to recall that on my S+ Little Devils machine they had a button there to start the bonus round. Can't remember ever seeing a button there on an S2000 unless it's for the same purpose

There's two wires for the light and two wires that go to the microswitch on the bottom of the assembly. Red and blue go to the light, black and yellow go to the microswitch.

The lights aren't polarized so it won't matter which side each one is plugged into. The black and yellow wires only complete a connection when the button is pushed so they can be swapped also, but you'll notice there are 3 tabs on that microswitch. They are labeled com, nc and no. The black wire generally goes to the com connection and the yellow wire MUST go to the no connection. The meanings for those words is

com- common
no- normally open
nc- normally closed

this is weird...... i took the socket with the bulb from change button and put it in where the bet one credit socket was...... then put bet one credit socket with the bulb in the change button socket...... neither lighted up now....... i switched them back and the change lights up but the bet one credit still doesnt light up.......so it doesnt seem to be the socket..... now what do i try?

Staz   If your lights are LED pull out the bulb that's not working  turn it 1/2 turn and put it back in.

The sockets are the same, but you can have incandescent lamp versus LED lamps in the sockets. Yours look to be LED lamps. The big thing here is that LED lamps are polarized and have to be put in with the positive lead going to the positive side of the lamp. If you put it in backwards the lamp won't light. I can't tell from your picture which side of that lamp base is pos and which is negative, but if you look at how a working one is inserted you'll be able to tell. Also, where the wires come out of the base of the lamp, check to make sure they are wrapped nicely around the bottom of the lamp, one to each side and not bent off to the side as this will prevent a solid working connection also

staz   Sockets really don't go bad.  So here is what I want you to do. First don't mess with the bet 1 button any more ( it works, leave it alone ) Second pull the bulb out of the change button socket and turn the bulb 1/2 turn and put it back into that same socket. Now see if it works.

Take the lamp out, rotate it 180 degrees and put it back in. This reverses the polarity of the power going into the lamp.
