Title: Bally 742A Coin Problem Post by: gambler on February 22, 2012, 08:12:06 PM Hi - Here is my post so I don't get deleted. I'm :59-
I recently bought my first machine and was going to look around for answers, but since I have to post... My Bally 742A won't accept a coin (dime). It just falls through. I can see where it may be having problems, but of course once the door is shut, I don't know what is really happening. It worked at the antique show I bought it from. Took it home, and now it won't accept the coin. The seller said he could come take a look but I have enjoyed "looking under the hood" in the interim. There is some kind of spring secured flap (sorry for the lack of knowledge) just under the coin acceptor that, when I move it just so, the coin does go the right way as opposed to coming right out into the coin tray. But the door is open when I do this. If there is a place to buy a new part, I'd be interested. Or if anyone has any suggestions I'd appreciate it. Thanks! Title: Re: Bally 742A Coin Problem Post by: OldReno on March 03, 2012, 01:32:51 AM That flap is your lockout coil. It must be energized in order for the coin to get through. If you push on the tab that sticks out, you should feel pressure and hear a buzz.
That means it's on. Often the problem is that your dashpot switch is not fully closing. You can check this by pushing back on the handle to see if the lockout energizes. Or you can pull on the horseshoe looking thing on the reel mech right hand side and listen to see if it energizes. Let me know and I'll walk you through this. And, to all you other fine folks, I finally have a semi-reilable internet connection now, so I can check up on you all from time to time. Thanks, Old Reno XOXOXO Title: Re: Bally 742A Coin Problem Post by: gambler on March 03, 2012, 02:21:38 AM Thanks for the reply. I'm a little confused about what you said, but I actually just removed "the flap" and it worked like a charm. Someone told that was for the casinos use, not mine. :)
Thanks again! Title: Re: Bally 742A Coin Problem Post by: OldReno on March 03, 2012, 02:40:49 AM Sure, that works for home use.
If you want to get it 'up to code', we can work on that lockout problem.... |
