Title: Bally E2000 harrahs marina slot 1982
Post by: DHENNING on February 24, 2012, 07:00:34 PM
1982 harrahs marina slot machine three reel. I went through all 8 tests but the arm release lever will not activate, any suggestions?  It accepts coins but they fall out the bottom of the machine?

Hello... I believe under test two the machine will cycle thought all the lights, bells, solenoids. Did you hear or see if the handle solenoid clicked or cycle? If not it could be bad, or even just stuck due to lack of being played.. The other thing to do is to unplug all the connection on the boards and reseat the connections, even the ribbon cables, but be careful with them it easy to bend a pin.. Lastly check the fuses and fuse holders. I have found many cracked or broken fuse holders in the Bally E2000 machines..

I pulled all the plugs and ran another set of  tests 1-8 all the switches seem to work fine.  The handle lockout assembly still does not work.  Is there a way to test the coil? (I took the assembly apart it was not stuck)

Use an ohm meter on the coil to check for resistance. If you don't have any the coil is bad because it reads as an open circuit. I almost forgot got to ask if you have checked the coin switch operation on the front door?

Coin switch works, I'm going to hunt down an ohm meter and let you know how it goes.

Did you run test 2 with the door open and watch the handle release solenoid to see if it cycled? If you missed it on the first try let it cycle through the test a second time.

you need to run the IO test (test 2) to see if you are getting 50volt activation which includes reel locking - divertor on door - as well as the handle release coil.  if NONE of the devices are working then you have 50v issues (fuse - delay relay - board)  -  if only the handle coil - check the wiring to the coil - can be io board issue.  BUT DO THE TESTS!!!

Coin diverter, arm lock and reel lock not working (I did tests) coil is good according to ohm reading.  What next? How do I check  delay relay or board issue? Thanks!

Are you sure the fuse for the 50v circuit is good? Check the molex plugs at the transformer too.

50 volt fuse is good (all fuses are good) all plugs are clean and connected?

You have a problem with the 50V circuit in the machine. Broken wire, bad connection or a transformer problem.

How do I check transformer ( proper volts, etc)?

I think I found the problem!  The delay relay board relay seems to be smoked (K1) and the transistor (Q1) is broken!   I am going to look for the parts and get someone to solder them in.  Or should I just get a new board?

I replaced the switch and the transistor and a diode.  Now when I turn the game on the number 7 appears in the led (third window).  The reset button does not seem to work nor does the test button?  All fuses are good.

Still thinking that you have a bad hopper control board, but since you don't have a spare or a different machine to try that one in it only a guess..

can you post a picture of the delay relay board that you are talking about? I am having a similar problem with the same type of machine that you are working on.

Thanks,

David

This is a picture of the delay board from a E1000. In later models there is just a clear or blue relay mounted behind the hopper..
