You can put in your max bid, and change it (including lowering it) right up to 5min before the end of the auction. It bids on your behalf in the last seconds of the auction up to your maximum. The biggest benefit is that you don't trigger a bidding war with someone else. Ie someone has bid 61, so you put in your bid of 71, he sees that and puts in 81 and on it goes. I once sold a Sands Coffee mug for $115.00 the rest went for $7-$8.....
