Title: Bally 1090 Eseries Problems
Post by: Jennasbetterhalf on March 10, 2012, 07:54:53 PM
Bought the  machine a month ago guy who sold said it was sitting for years unused. Powered up machine display read 88888888 (pulsing a bit) did several reset got machine to display normal and accept 5 coins spun reels then the 3rd reel would not stop. got wheel to stop tried to spin again first reel spun 2nd and 3rd stayed locked and after that
the reel solenoids would thump rhythmically thump.. thump.. thump.. So I was advised to clean the contacts with contact cleaner and oil the reel assembly so I did. In doing so I broke a pin on my ribbon cable that goes from the side board to the back board I then replaced it after replacing it and powering up all 3 reel solenoids, the coin diverter and the bell were all in on state buzzing loudly. The display read 8888888 at the time. I then checked out all connections that I had cleaned and found them all to be sound. I switched the ribbon cable around powered up and all the buzzing stopped and the display now displays nothing and doing reset also does nothing. Any thoughts?

still sounds like you have the ribbon cable on incorrectly - you did reverse one end so it faces differently?

No I switched it end for end(one board to the other)

could I  have fried the board when I hooked it up wrong?
