Title: S+ bill validator will not cycle (RESOLVED) Post by: BR549 Auto Sales on March 11, 2012, 12:07:17 AM I have just used a set denom chip on this machine and followed the instructions on how to enable my bv. When I power the machine up, the bv won't even cycle. On this particular machine it has a WBA 12 transport and a WBA 13 head, could that be the problem? All of the S+ machines I have worked on in the past always had a 145 or a 200 bill validator on them. I am including a picture of the power supply if that helps any.
Thanks, David Title: Re: S+ bill validator will not cycle Post by: cowboygames on March 11, 2012, 12:14:26 AM Is it getting power from the supply?
Title: Re: S+ bill validator will not cycle Post by: BR549 Auto Sales on March 11, 2012, 12:32:32 AM I don't believe so, it does not make any attempt to cycle upon power up.
Title: Re: S+ bill validator will not cycle Post by: stayouttadabunker on March 11, 2012, 01:47:36 AM You need the power supplies with the slits on the side of them.
The other ones are no good. Start swapping acceptors to see if that's the problem or not. See Poppo's bill acceptor thread....it has everything you need to know about bill acceptors for S+'s. Title: Re: S+ bill validator will not cycle Post by: JCM Tech on March 11, 2012, 09:23:35 AM When you power it up, look on the right hand side of the validator. There should be 2 red leds lit up. If only one lights and the other just flashes once, there may be a software issue.
If they light up, next try a self test. Pull the validator out and set number 8 dip switch,(the closest one to the front of the validator ) to the on position.(down) Then turn on 1,2,3 and 4 (the four farthest from the front. Replace the validator and then turn number 8 off by flipping it up. The validator should cycle and accept notes. NOTE: these are not reported to the game during this test mode, so no credits should be issued. If all that works, then the problem is communication between the BV and the game. If the validator does not cycle completely, check the bezel lights for a code flashing. There will be a number of flashes and then pause and repete. Look this code up in the WBA manual available on the JCM Global web site. www.jcmglobal.com Title: Re: S+ bill validator will not cycle Post by: Buzz on March 11, 2012, 06:02:59 PM You need the power supplies with the slits on the side of them. For some reasom I'm thinking a WBA uses a different power supply than DBV. :103- :103- Title: Re: S+ bill validator will not cycle Post by: Ron (r273) on March 11, 2012, 06:27:09 PM You mean this one Buzz?
Ron (r273) <edit> BR549 if this is like yours I have a spare you can try to see if this is your problem. Title: Re: S+ bill validator will not cycle Post by: BR549 Auto Sales on March 11, 2012, 06:37:13 PM That's what mine looks like, not getting the led lights inside of it or not making any noise that it is trying to cycle. I suppose the power supply must be bad?
Title: Re: S+ bill validator will not cycle Post by: Jim on March 12, 2012, 03:43:53 PM usually when these power supplies go bad you can here a real faint ticking sound coming from them. Its common on a switcher power supply.
make sure all the plugs are plugged in properly, I have seen the two prong plug (thats the +12vdc) with the male pins pushed out of the back of the connector. also make sure it is plugged into the harness from the machine (its the same one used by the 145/200 power supply) Jim Title: Re: S+ bill validator will not cycle Post by: BR549 Auto Sales on March 30, 2012, 07:54:44 PM Problem resolved, it was a bad power supply. Thanks for the help as always guys.
