Title: Burning Gamemaker 7000 games with oversized EPROMS Post by: RV Doctor on January 27, 2009, 01:51:37 AM I've purchased my first video slot (Gamemaker 7000) about 4 weeks ago and I'll soon be experimenting with burning new games.
My EPROM eraser and my "True Willem GQ USB Programmer" have already arrived. I've ordered various quantities of 512KB, 1.0 MB, 2 MB & 4 MB EPROMs from various EBay sellers, and they'll be arriving at different times. If the larger chips should happen to arrive first, can I burn a 512 KB game onto a 1 MB or 2 MB chip, or will I encounter problems? I wouldn't think so, but I'd rather get some feedback first. I know it makes better financial sense to wait until the smaller chips arrive, but I'm excited to try it. This was done by a few members on the old board for S+ machines with replacing the c64a chip. I am not sure if the bally will accept it or not but in theory yes since the socket takes a 512 and a 1mb chip.

Is that the case here, or can you burn the data onto the larger chip at position 0x0000?

I believe the burner probably zeros out the unused space.

Dan (tacman) You can extract the 512k segment from the 1M chip when reading it by restricting the read segment, but keeping the original file is much simpler. :89- :71- What about the offset (when burning the 512k file to the 1M chip) .
