You have to go into the menus and specify whether your machine is a slant sit-down model or an upright machine.
I think it's in the Keychip options.
In the menus, there are also settings to enable the bill acceptor.

Just open the door and push the little button once - next to the lights on the MPU.

Push the little white button once, then look at your blue VFD display.
Use the 2nd button to switch through the "pages" and enter the page by hitting the "Spin" button.
You will see you deck buttons light up as to what button is available for use.
To get out of a "page", hit the Max bet button.

you want to go into 3.1 Key Chip Config I Menu (Option: [7.1]) to change your machine type.
I attached a sheet for you below...>>>

Not if he just changed out the chips.
He should be allowed to get into the machine type setting without a keychip to set the machine type.

However, if he opened and closed the door a few times and screwed around - the window of opportunity may be gone.
Same thing with Clear chips - if you back out of the Keychip options with the Max bet button too far
and go into game mode, you lose the key and have to re-key it to get back in.

If he doesn't have a keychip, he can throw back in his old SB chip and that will force the machine to open up the machine type error again.
Then he can throw back in his Tabasco SB chip to open the window to set the machine type.
That's one way to get around it if he doesn't have a keychip.
It's recommended that he purchase a proper key though ( possibly Keychip31?) - for future set-ups.

The exact address for the option he needs to change is...>>> 3.1.6 Machine Type (Option: [7.1.6])

It will be down on page. 11 of the PDF sheet I provided.

Bettorslots had a real nice sheet he wrote out once
I thought was very good for someone setting up their machine!  :89-
I just don't remember where the heck it is on this huge forum.

Also, if it's showing machine type mismatch, he may not have a set accounting denom, limits or sound settings. Clearing the mismatch might just be the beginning. He probably needs a keychip and printed programming instructions

On the S2000 models it's referred to as a keychip, but there might be a way to get back in if you do what you did to get that error the first time, again. Is that clear as mud? Sorry:(

If I were you, I'd be posting a WTB ad for one in the "Classifieds" section of NLG.

Sir, if you read my Reply #6 - I took the time to write and give you specific alternatives to get the machine type enabled.

I know what you mean Cowboy.
Sometimes I think I write and nobody reads... :72-

I did read it and tried putting the chips back in but it did nothing, i think due to one of the legs being broken on the chip.

Yep, a broken leg will generally render it useless:(

Bunker, sometimes I have a hard time paying attention to what I right, god forbid I'd pay close enough attention to what others write sometimes  :97-

Well that would explain a lot of things and welcome to the Broken Leg Club !
We have exclusive members hobbled in from all over the world that surely have Life Time membership
in the Fried Circuitry Boards Country Club as well!  :89-

You need to get yourself a nice eprom extraction tool instead of a carpenter's nail puller - otherwise known as a hammer.  :182-
Now you need to get a few things from the "Classifieds" area of NLG!
Hopefully a vendor will spot your WTB ad and help you out!

This hobby like to rob George Washington's from your wallet very easily...
Don't worry - you'll find a way to get more...!

Here's a picture of my favorite tools!...>>>

If you have an old un-needed burnt out chip, and are a good solderer, you might be able to put a new leg on that guy.
It has worked for me often in a pinch.
I also am a member in good standing of the FCBCC...
