ok purchased ram clear chips that i didn't need(have 920000 series e-proms). set the jumper for ram clear on bottom right corner of board installed board held puesdo coin and reset in and powered up held for approx. 2 mins.. nothing.. no lamp flash.. when i released the buttons i have 83f code. question 1 is there a different process to do a ram clear?? and if not who can i get to service or replace this board. the battery is new. thanx budmannick

Redo the clear

SafeRAM Clear Procedure

Complete - Press and hold the PSEUDO COIN and
TEST buttons, then switch power ON. When the message
CH C displays in WIN PAID, release the PSEUDO COIN and
TEST buttons. The CH C message is followed by CL C.
Full - Press and hold the PSEUDO COIN button, then
switch power ON. When the message CH F appears in
WIN PAID, release the PSEUDO COIN button. The CH F
message is followed by CL
Partial - Switch power ON. The message CH P
displays in WIN PAID. The CH P message is followed by
CL P.
If an error was detected during SafeRAM Clear
as designated by E C, E F, E P in WIN PAID, repeat the
operation.

one little hint when you press the Pesudo and test bottons, press them hard enough for your finger tips start hurting then press  a little harder. then turn the power on. I've been known to put on a glove.

Did you try using your original mains?...What happened with those or are you using the purchased clear chips?...If both are doing the same thing, you have other problems...

With the 920000 installed, move the jumper to both post and turn the power on, without pressing the Pesudo and test buttons   see if it will do a partial clear. If it does your not holding the two buttons in hard enough for a full clear.

it will not clear. did a complete, full, and partial with same results. thanx budmannick

use a ohm meter to check that the Pesudo and test buttons are working.

You must leave the battery jumper on in order to do a Ram Clear and keep it on...As soon as you remove the battery jumper and turn the machine off you will get the 83f error...

hi again checked both switches and they are fine. i only remove the battery jumper when the board is just sitting around waiting to try the next step. this machine was brought to me by a guy who bought it not working.. was told the battery was replaced but they couldn't get it to boot up 3 yrs ago. so i know very little about it. so here i am thanx again budmannick

I think I have a replacement board.
I'll put a fresh battery in a board and check it out.

One thing I would check on your board is the solder connection to the battery.
The traces are very weak on those boards and after several battery change they sometime break.

i will check that tomorrow. i cut the leads on old battery and soldered to them to the new battery, but i will look at it tomorrow. thanx budmannick ps i believe the board is recognizing the battery because if i put the board in without the battery jumper on the display shows an 81 code, with jumper on 83F????????????
