Title: Re: Help to identify this slot machine Post by: shortrackskater on April 22, 2012, 04:24:45 PM I'm assuming your Sega is a similar mechanism as my Mills Compact (or compac?) that I bought about a year and a half ago. Does yours have a coin mech inside? I'd poker around inside and look for any markings on it. There may be an old sticker or tag with the date. The mechanism should pull out. Carefully pull it out (mine has one bolt in front that locks it in) and check around. I'm not clear here...are you looking at it to buy or to sell?
I LOVE my Mills and, even though it's relatively "new" compared to older mechanical machines, it's mostly mechanical and I love the sound and feel of it. I didn't have a shot of my mechanism alone but you can see the reels inside are very similar. I paid $200 for mine which was a steal. I like the style of that Sega and personally would think, in today's crappy market, that $400 would be a reasonable price for it. I've seen machines priced higher but they just sit there on ebay. So it all boils down to how much you like it and how much you're willing to pay...and, of course, how low the seller will go, if this is the situation. Hope this helps. Pretty much all Hi-Top parts will fit it, or the mech will fit in a Hi-Top case. It's not a collector's machine and these usually go for under $500 on Ebay. The one in the pic has been screwed with, it doesn't have an escalator, so that may mark it down a couple hundred. If it hasn't already gone, try offering $200 and be prepared to go to $350.
